Are you passionate about the business and finance sector? Do you follow the national and international news? Then, an Economics degree is the answer. It has always been one of the most sought-after degrees amongst youth.
Economics degrees are designed to tackle all the issues that have an impact on financial situations, ranging from production to how resources are used. Candidates are trained to understand how the economy suffers fluctuations based on the market’s needs and wants followed by the market’s supply and demand.
By far one of the most crucial elements is that economics is divided into microeconomics and macroeconomic. Microeconomics deals with the economic behaviour at an individual level (companies, buyers, sellers and others), whilst macroeconomics illustrates the bigger picture, on a national or global scale (unemployment, economic growth, inflation and so on).
Having an economics degree increases anyone’s chances to find a job, regardless of the field. This is mainly due to the fact that graduates hold many transferable abilities, such as analytical and problem-solving skills, that are suitable for any career.
A study made by the London School of Economics and Political Science showed that graduates from an economics course have a starting salary of £33,000 per year. Having a job in the field right after graduation is a major positive aspect and comes with a lot of opportunities for career advancement.
Economics degrees are usually a three years commitment and sometimes are offered as part of a joint degree. This means that Economics can be studied along with another subject such as engineering, management, law, computer science and others.
This degree can be found either as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA). The BSc focuses more on economical theory and statistical techniques, while BA is combined with social sciences and qualitative modules.
Lagos State University was truly a training ground where I gained real boldness to being a true leader, through the structure of the campus fellowship. This gave me the opportunity to cater for other needs both academic, physical, emotional and spiritual wise. This shaped my mind to see greatness in people in respective of there backgrounds or the tribe they were from. This experience transformed my personality has I saw myself giving answers to people’s problem most especially students. I’m grateful for the school structure.
View moreLASU is an excellent institution! The university offers a wide range of programs, and the faculty is knowledgeable and supportive. The campus is vibrant, and there’s a strong sense of community. I’ve had a great experience at LASU, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking quality education in Nigeria. The university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation is impressive.
View moreLASU is a citadel of learning with great vision to impact knowledge and produce workable labour market. I like the fact that they are lecturers and professors who are willing to lecture their students. But, there are few lecture halls available for students in each faculty. Classes are being cancelled sometimes because of limited lecture hall.
I recommend that the school authority make provisions for facilities, such as ventilated halls, public address system (PAS), conducive environment, etc.
My experience about this university, Have met new faces, new friends with characters different from my own
Meeting with people that have different level of understanding from my own understanding
Engaging in different activities,(academics, social and more
My university days were an exhilarating mix of fun, challenges, and invaluable lessons. From the very beginning, I embraced opportunities that pushed me beyond my comfort zone and shaped me into a more confident and capable individual.
One of my earliest milestones was being appointed **Head of Class** in my department—a role that came with both excitement and responsibility. Shortly after, I was honored to take on an even greater challenge: **Chief Head of Class** for all eight departments in my faculty. At first, the weight of coordinating across multiple departments felt daunting, but with determination and adaptability, I learned to navigate complexities, manage diverse personalities, and foster collaboration among my peers.
Beyond leadership, my academic journey was equally demanding. Balancing coursework, projects, and extracurriculars taught me **time management, discipline, and the art of prioritization**. There were moments of stress, yes, but also immense pride in overcoming obstacles—whether it was acing a tough exam, organizing successful faculty events, or simply rallying my classmates toward a common goal.
The friendships I forged and the mentors I met along the way made the experience unforgettable. University wasn’t just about earning a degree; it was about **growth, resilience, and discovering my potential**. Looking back, I wouldn’t trade those years for anything—they laid the foundation for who I am today.
View moreIt is a very good university, what I like about it is the fact that they can boast of well qualified graduate across different field of study with well qualified professionals. And yes I can recommend it
View more My opinion about lasu is that it is a good school which hope for improving the overall excellent of students but they are not the best as we assumed they are, as a current student in this institutions I happened to witness lots of flaws the posses like non conducive classes for learning, hostel and accomodations issues which contribute heavily to the performance of students, shortage of well versed professors and Lecturers, ineffective policies in place and many more but also I see some good sides of lasu among it is as a school in Lagos it entice top organization and provide them the room to impact positively to students, networking opportunity which is key in this modern age, consistent calendar, technology advancement and support to students compare to other schools, good infrastructures and buildings, net environment and many more
I do like the fact that lasu exposed us to opportunities within Nigeria and beyond and also providing quick response and support in terms of beneficial information, programs, results, transcript and others. What I dislike about lasu is that they live far below the standard they presented to the outside world
Definitely I will recommend lasu to others because is still okay compare to other schools and also gives room to leverage on opportunity which transform lives
Lasu is a great state University with large population and vibrant tutors and flexible learning pattern as well as conducive environment for studying and teaching interaction. The school is quite a busy place for both part time and full time students during the week days and weekends. It is a school with highly possessed dignity and regular renovation and curriculum planning exceptionally reviewed for update and upgrade purposes. Lasu is currently an academic strike free university currently in Nigeria when other university were on strike.
What I really dislike about the school is the inadequate planning in getting quick and prompt certificate after course completion and the stressful involved in examination registration, school fee payment and the enormous classroom population.
My recommendation for Lasu is to add Information Technology courses to their curriculum such as; cyber security, data science, project management and cloud computing for worldly certification recognition and graduate success.
What it’s like in the program is that the teachers are so well educated they don’t get anything wrong they are always right and the lectures are according to what the student will understand. There is no partiality or whatsoever.
View moreThe Lagos state university Ojo has distinguished itself as one of the best institutions both at learning and teaching among other things but the state government financial input is not enough to upgrade school academic facilities to compete with the likes in another taper of the country and beyond. Despite this setback, the school has been able to produce leaders in present-day Nigeria.
