The Masters program at the School of Journalism and Media studies is well supported by academically qualified lecturers and has linkages to the vibrant media industry in Kenya.

Students are encouraged to pursue independent studies and have access to facilities to support both in-person and online learning. The School of Journalism has a high completion rate as a result of this policy

Recent challenges facing the University include financial challenges that were caused by the reduction in Government capitation, these are being addressed by the current management. Students need to have a laptop to access online learning, some students find this challenging due to the financial situations in their families.

Given to long history of the institution and the caliber of the academic staff, Kenya’s premier University will pull through in spite of the current challenges faced and continue to offer stellar service to student both within the borders and beyond

When Covid-19 hit in 2020, I was just beginning my second year at the University of Nairobi, physical classes were called off and we were all forced to go back home.
Now here arose the challenge of what might become of us, we were going to wait until the virus passed which we didn’t know when this will be or were we going to find a way to continue with our classes?
Luckily for us the university didn’t waste any time and enrolled us into online classes.
At first it was very difficult to adjust from the schedules and trying to synchronise them with schedules at home, but eventually everything fell into place that even when physical classes resumed, we still studied online.
Now, do I think that Covid-19 stole my campus experience?
Yes, but on the bright side ,I grew up so fast and learnt how to work and study at the same time.

The on-campus library, Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library, is a study haven in the central business District. The staff is spectacular in terms of service to students and other University of Nairobi fraternity members. The librarian is so hospitable and resourceful in knowledge about where to get the books and is just an awesome guide if you are feeling lost. The library boasts all kinds of academic and non-academic reading material arranged in a neat and precise way. It also offers desktop computers that are connected to the internet for students interested in doing research online. the sitting spaces and ambiance in the building are that of productivity and inspiration. The moment you step into this place, you will feel your productivity kick in for sure! I would totally recommend.
