I’m a Hungarian student and I chose this university, because it was close to my local town and I heard good opinions about the quality of education. I don’t regret applying here, however it is a fact that there are less opportunities compared to Budapest. Most of the teachers are really friendly and they regard the students as a partner. The other thing that I really like is that there are many foreign students who I enjoy talking with and help when it is necessary.
The disadvantage of the university is that there are nice people in the administration office, but sometimes they are not well informed and it happened many times to me, they couldn’t help in a basic every day problem. This university gives a more theoretical education, it would be great if it would be on an equal level with practical education.
Overall I would recommend this university for those people who likes smaller cities and a good social life. There are always programmes, you can’t get bored! 🙂

Debrecen University is mostly famous for its high quality education in medical sciences not only in Hungary but also in the whole of Europe. However, the Faculty of Economy and Business where I currently study is created not long before but it gained high popularity and ranked as one of the best in Hungary because of university’s specialized education program, well-equipped rooms and good professors. If you want to get higher quality education in small and quiet city among 4000 international students Debrecen is the best place to come. From the beginning of the study year you can find various festivals and events organized by the university and local government and businesses, including Food Festival, U-day, Startup events in the city, or dozens of laboratory activities (mostly for medical science students) in different part of the city and country.
Though there are some cons which you have take into account when choosing Debrecen University, however, Debrecen is the 2nd biggest city in Hungary but for Economy and Business students there are only a few places to work and gain work experience.
Another one… Student unions and research centers do not perform well that is why you have to find the way how to spend in your spare time if you want to gain more knowledge.
Overall, Debrecen is one of the top universities in Hungary. Come, get friends, learn, visit, enjoy…

University located in the second largest city in Hungary after capital Budapest. Although main branch of university is medical and medicine sciences, other departments like economy, computer sciences and informatics have their own huge campuses. Total number of students is nearly 30000 and more than 4000 are international. Year by year international students ratio increases. Main problem in this city is job problems which are related to your subject. There are some international companies in the city but competition is so tight.

There is a quality of education in the theoretical background but there is lack and shortage in terms of practical knowledge. Extracurricular activities are main concerns that student mobility is very weak.

Really like the university, the social life is great, I collected many friends here. The professors are mostly helpful, they really want to teach you, and there are some excellent ones. The disadvantage is, that there are not many opportunities for international students, and the city has to improve the English knowledge in some offices. But the environment is great, and the university’s international life is under improvement

University culture is accommodating since it has a lot of international student that gives everyone an opportunity to interact with people from different culture. Teachers and staff are awesome they really help where necessary. The quality of education is great.
