Established in 1765, the Technische Universitat Bergakademie Freiberg or the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology is oldest university in mining and metallurgy in the world. It was founded by Prince Franz Xaver, the regent of Saxony. The TU Bergakademie Freiberg consist of six faculties:

• Biology and Physics
• Geoscience
• Geoengineering and mining
• Mechanical Engineering
There is no tuition fee to all programs from bachelor to PhD. The students will only pay for the registration fee of 84 Euros per semester.
