An idyllic and charming place to study

Despite being skeptical about studying at a Catholic university at first, I have come to like studying at the campus in Eichstätt a lot. Many different aspects have contributed to this. Firstly, studying Intercultural Advertising as a Master program, I was among students from different fields of study and various parts of the world. I enjoyed this intercultural and dynamic learning atmosphere very much. Also, this program includes a 9-month exchange in Turku, Finland, which was a good experience. Secondly, the location is unique. Eichstätt has wonderful Baroque buildings, which lead to its idyllic atmosphere. Furthermore, the Bavarian culture and mentality are very charming. It is a small town and thus rather than international brands local stores exist. Nevertheless, you can get everything you need in terms of groceries and Ingolstadt isn’t too far away for a shopping spree. Due to the size of the town and the university everything is close by. Thirdly, this particular program admits only 25 students which leads to learning and mentoring on a more personal basis, which I favored more than the anonymity at larger universities. Also, there were not only theoretical but also practical aspects of the program, which enabled one to apply the knowledge, e.g. by creating a communication strategy for a local non-profit organization. However, I think improvements need to be made relating to the interrelations of classes taught in Eichstätt and in Turku.
Overall, I am very glad I chose Eichstätt and this master program because I gained many insights in terms of intercultural experiences, personal strengths and weaknesses and know-how relating to the field of study. I enjoyed living there, especially in the summer. There are a variety of activities like the Altstadtfest, canoeing on the Altmühl, student parties and sports classes. The atmosphere among students and locals is very casual and welcoming. Moreover, I can recommend to enjoy the local cuisine at restaurants like the Trompete.
