My experience with the University of Winnipeg has been mixed. While I appreciate the academic opportunities and some supportive staff members, I have also found certain administrative processes to be confusing, slow, and stressful as a student.

In situations involving payments, account holds, registration, or student services, clearer communication and faster follow-up would make a big difference. Students often rely on these offices for time-sensitive matters, and delays can create unnecessary stress.

I hope the university continues improving its student support systems, especially for students who are trying to manage academics, finances, and deadlines at the same time.

At the heart of downtown it isn’t the safest University but there are lots to offer. They have a wide variety of activities throughout the school year. With that said, it can come off as intimidating to participate but there are tons of prizes and the people are quite welcoming and nice. It is a good way to begin engaging with your university peers. The downside to it all is I feel like some of the professors are not at their best. You either have really amazing profs thay everybody wants to have or you have really trashy profs that no one wants to get. Also because of it being at downtown it can get really scary sometimes. Especially when you’re there late and need to go home during dark. Luckily, they provide security guards to help you feel more uncomfortable if you’re walking to a place where you don’t feel safe.

Attending this university has not only taught me, but given me the space to exercise the freedom given to me for attending. I really feel as though a lot of people either don’t understand it or take it for granted.
