UBC has extensive resources for clubs, interests, and recreation. UBC will most likely have something for you if you are passionate about something. In terms of academics, I’ve met friends from different faculties and they all have mixed opinions. In general it really just depends on your faculty, if you’re in science and engineering, you will most likely have a terrible work life balance, if you are in arts or sauder (business) you will enjoy your uni experience very much. I would say 90% of the profs are very friendly and they care about their students.
Now.. life in UBC!! Definitely there’s a bit of cliquey vibe here and there but it’s such a big school, putting yourself out there and be selective about who you’re friends with will get you a long way – there are so many people out there that are so cool and you just need to get through the tough part when meeting people you do not vibe with.. other than that, UBC is great.
