York had one of the most diverse student bodies in all of Canada. With over 5000 international students from all over the world, and a dedicated department for the international community, and clubs which bring different communities together, York is committed to fostering an inclusive and accepting environment. York’s English department follows suit, with a programme that attracts not just north american students but literature enthusiasts from the world over. The only thing that perhaps lacks in inclusion is a curriculum, though rich in western canon, which encompasses literature outside of the western.
View moreOriginally I went to York University as a Music Major, but I switched to an English Major during the 2008 strike. However, I still took music programs on the side as electives. It was at York that I discovered Flamenco Guitar, and it quickly became a passion of mine! It led me to discover other Spanish music. The program there is great, and I highly recommend the guitar ensemble as well.
