The interdisciplinary aspect of my program allowed me to learn about a variety of exciting topics including history, geography, politics, economics and anthropology. You got to dip your toe in multiple specialities which made it easier to hone in on my own research interests. Overall, my professors were knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, and it showed in their dedication to students’ learning. As I was in a smaller speciality (Latin American and Caribbean Studies), it was sometimes difficult to register for classes because of selective availability. The pandemic also resulted in many of my classes being shifted to online learning which made it more difficult to make friends and enjoy the student life provided by my university.
