Criminology was a very challenging but motivating program. it was challenging because my expectations were different while entering university. However, it is motivating because you get to learn where crime generates from and it makes you study many interesting criminal cases that vary in characteristics. The university is very energetic and gives you the “at home” feeling. I strongly recommend the University of Ottawa for anyone who is interested.
View moreI’m currently in my second year of the Social Work program in French immersion. My first year was entirely online, and repetitive in the content I was learning. My second year, now in person, has slowly started to pick up the pace, and I’m now enjoying my major a little bit more. Other than the program itself, I’ve experienced everything university has to offer. Joining clubs, making friends, gaining real life skills, etc. I’m enjoying my time here overall.
View moreThe university of Ottawa is great for it’s bilingualism. However, although most (if not all) required classes are offered in both French and English, a lot of elective courses are not, making it hard for French students to take full advantage of the variety of courses offered to the English student population. Also, many French classes are taught by English professors who don’t speak the language well, making it hard to learn the material. The university should prioritize hiring French professors.
View moreAlthough I am only going into my second year, I’ve had a pretty positive outlook on professors thus far. I was really worried that I’d be stuck with profs that didn’t care, but so far they have been nothing but considerate! Cannot really say much about my classes since I didn’t really get to experience them (online), but I am looking forward to in-person lectures. Overall, I’ve been met with nothing but kind people and a generally positive attitude towards the school and students.
