McGill is located in one of the best cities in the world which gives you a lot of opportunities in and outside of the university. However, there are a lot of students in the undergraduate program meaning that it is harder to build connections with professors and you will need to advocate for yourself and your needs.
View moreI chose McGill for its great international reputation and the fact that it is a research-intensive institution. I would have first-hand experience and a more informed review of the university when I start in the fall.
View moreI could not be happier with my experience at McGill University. Among so many positive factors contributing to my years here, the work-life balance really stood out to me. At McGill, the community is the most hard-working and determined group I have been in, while also having the most fun. It is inspiring and motivating to be surrounded by students who have the grit and determination to get their work done with a very goal-oriented mindset, thinking about their future. Students prioritize their school work and grades, while allowing time for relaxation, time with friends, socializing, etc. In general, students study as much/hard as they can during the days, to ensure there is free time on weekends/nights to have fun, party, etc.
View moreMcGill is not one of the most diverse university’s and for that, I wish there were more opportunities for me to connect with other alumni and students who are going down the same academic path as I am. However, I am enjoying my current experience and involvement in the clubs I am currently in and the diversity within these clubs themselves.
View moreMy experience at McGill University was pleasant overall. I enjoyed the environment on and off campus and I felt that the quality of education was up to par with what you would expect. It is a very competitive environment, so if thrive and feel motivated in a cut throat environment then it is a good fit for you. Some downsides were that the lectures were huge, due to the large student population, and therefore you really had to go out of your way to receive one-on-one time with both professors and advisors. This meant that it was hard to receive direct support if you were struggling with a specific class or were having a hard time adjusting to university life.
View moreThe professors are accommodating when it comes to extensions for assignments depending on the classes you take. There is a competitive vibe within the students, but we are in the same boat so we do help out eachother. In general, McGill is a great university that provided me with plenty of opportunities for my future. They inteoduced me to my internships and I’ll always be grateful for that. The professors are really nice and some of them are kind enough to give you a recommendation letter even if you were in their large classes where it’s hard to recognize the students due to number.
View moreMcgill University is unique in their ability to care for student’s during and after their academic schooling. They demonstrates devotion to their students through student and career services to help students prepare for future job applications and careers. Mcgill University offers education to the highest degree with professors who are passionate and committed to their students.
View moreEven though it is only my first year here, I am very impressed with the wide variety of courses that McGill offers. The courses I am taking now are all engaging and very interesting in very different ways. If you have good time management skills and an interest in the subjects you are taking it is very easy to succeed! It is a challenging school, but I am loving it so far.
View moreI really like how multicultural McGill University is. In general, Montreal is a multicultural city as well, but it is very nice to be able to meet and connect with students from all around the world at McGill. I’m from Turkey and I first came to Montreal in 2018 to study at McGill and I found the school to make my transition much easier than I thought it would be. University staff and professors are very nice and accommodating. I find that McGill has the perfect academic life and social life balance.
View moreI genuinely appreciate and like what I do. Psychology is a passionating and interesting field for me. Thus, following a psychology programme in a school that is quite renowned for its psychology department and research is something I’m grateful for. McGill had some really good professors in psychology I believe. Although what I am learning may be interesting, and our professors are generally good, I must admit that having started university during a global pandemic made it difficult for me to really have a university student life. And this, of course, is not McGill’s fault, but mental health-wise and socially I believe the school could/can do more for its students. Luckily it is gradually getting better as Covid slowly starts fading and hopefully next year things will feel a bit more casual and social.
