As an international student, my journey at Concordia University has been a blend of both sweet and sour experiences. Like many other educational institutions, Concordia presents a mixed group of faculty quality. Unfortunately, in my case, the balance tilted a bit more towards encountering professors who struggled to teach their materials effectively. This was very disheartening given the substantial financial investment required from international students, whose fees are obviously higher than those of local students. The urgency to seek additional tutoring to excel at my courses was a notable frustration.
On the other hand, Concordia does shine in aspects of student life and campus facilities. Located in the vibrant heart of downtown, the university offers a campus that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also inclusive, with modern amenities such as accessible facilities for disabled individuals and gender-neutral bathrooms. The layout of study areas caters to a diverse range of needs and preferences.
The student community at Concordia is the best attribute, with a vast range of cultures and backgrounds creating an exhilarating environment. Clubs, associations and organizations are abundant, catering to a wide spectrum of interests and passions. These platforms offer incredible opportunities for students to showcase their talents, develop new skills, and uncover hidden strengths.
While the academic experience at Concordia can be a hit or miss depending on your major, the university does excel in providing an enriching and inclusive student life experience. Its commitment to a diverse and modern campus environment is commendable. For prospective students, especially those coming from overseas, weighing these aspects will be crucial in making an informed decision. I hope this helps!
