I look back at my time at Artevelde Univ of Applied Sciences with joy and pride. Studying IBM and having Mrs. Tania VDB as my coach truly made me grow as an individual. I gained lots of knowledge and was able to expand my international experience.

Great teachers, i like how they organize everything.

It was a little confusing and stressful at the beginning but i eventually found my way.

I had a great experience at the university overall. From the very beginning, the International Team gave us a warm welcome and organised some really fun activities, which made it easy to meet people and get to know other students during the first few days.

The professors are very approachable and always willing to help or answer any questions you may have. I also really appreciated the teaching methodology, which is much more practice-oriented than theory-based in most subjects. This made the classes feel more dynamic and useful.

One aspect that could definitely be improved is the flexibility when choosing subjects. As an Erasmus student, the subject packages offered by the university were fixed and could not be separated. This sometimes made it difficult to find subjects that could be properly recognised and transferred by our home universities. Having more flexibility when choosing individual subjects would make the Erasmus experience much easier for international students.

Regarding the facilities, the Kantienberg campus is really nice and modern. However, the other campus we attended more frequently, Stropkaai, leaves quite a bit to be desired. It is not particularly attractive and, unfortunately, some of its facilities are not in the best condition. I think this can be disappointing, especially because international students are often given the impression that they will be studying at the modern Kantienberg campus. I know several students who were quite disappointed when they found out that most of their classes would actually take place at Stropkaai.

Housing is another issue worth mentioning. The university’s student accommodation options are only available to students staying for one semester (six months). If you stay for a full academic year, you do not have the option of getting university accommodation, which can make finding a place to live considerably more difficult.

Apart from these points, I absolutely loved my experience, both at the university and in the city. Ghent completely stole my heart, and I am so happy that I chose it for my Erasmus. It has such a vibrant atmosphere, with plenty of activities, events and things to do, and it is incredibly student-friendly. I would choose Ghent all over again without a doubt 9000 times over hahah!

My experience with Artevelde University of Applied Sciences has been very positive. What stands out to me most is how committed the staff and lecturers are to their students. Attention is paid not only to your studies and results, but also to your personal well-being. You feel that students are truly seen and supported here.

My experience in International Business Management has been very valuable. The programme combines business theory with practical projects and an international perspective, which helped me develop both my analytical and professional skills. I especially appreciated the broad range of subjects, the practical approach and the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds.
At times, the workload and group projects could be challenging, but they also taught me how to manage deadlines, communicate effectively and work in diverse teams. Overall, I would definitely recommend the programme to students who are interested in business and want to prepare for an international career.

It is very Practical, As soon as you learn theory’s there is always a follow up task/group-work etc… This is good because it learns us prepare for future career choosing. My personal favorite was the course global challenges.

Being able to go to different schools of our choice and learn about different cultures too.
It says internalisation but the locals overwhelms the international students that come because of the communication in their local language.
Organisation of school events can be improved in my opinion.

Artevelde is an amazing institution! Amazing teachers and infrastructures. I had the privilege to attend courses at Stroopkai, Kantienberg and Kattenberg. The classes were dynamic and very different from what I’m used to in Brazil, in a positive way.

Honestly I’ve had a really good experience at Artevelde so far. I really like that the programme is very practical. We learn things that can actually be used in real-life situations, which makes the studying feel much more relevant and useful.

One of the things I appreciate most is the interaction between lecturers and students. They are approachable, open to feedback and willing to listen to new ideas, which makes it easier to speak up and be involved.

I’ve also had the chance to work on many different types of projects. I enjoy the variety, although group work can sometimes be challenging. Not everyone has the same level of responsibility or motivation, and that can be frustrating when you really care about the result. At the same time, I think these situations teach you a lot about communication, teamwork and how to work with different personalities.

The international atmosphere is another thing I really like. You get to work with people from different backgrounds and with different ways of thinking. It can sometimes be challenging, but I think that’s exactly what makes it valuable, especially, when you study communication. You learn to listen, adapt and find a way to work together.

I also very happy with the lecturers. I never feel like I’m unimportant. You can ask questions, share your ideas and have actual conversation with them and it goes further then classroom.

Also we work a lot on presenting, networking, teamwork, giving and receiving feedback, organising your own work and communicating with different people.

There are definitely busy periods, especially when several projects and deadlines come together and you might feel overwhelmed. So you need to be organised and manage your time well. But honestly, I think this is also good preparation for working life, where you often have to handle several things at once.

Overall, I’m happy with my choice. I feel like I’m building my professional profile and getting a better idea of what I want to do in the future. If you’re interested in communication, media, marketing and working with people, I would definitely recommend considering Artevelde.
