In my experience, the school of mathematics and physics at Monash are supportive and sociable. However, it is not always the case, especially with some Psychology majors I know that have a harder time due to how their department runs things. Overall, it’s a subjective experience and I would recommend you do some research on the individual schools if you decide to go to Monash, as there are other universities out there that can compensate for certain areas of study.
