Macquarie University offers one of the premium programs in the country when it comes to International Business. In my experience however, it hasn’t been quite as holistic as expected. I was a working professional who has herself dealt with International Business and I found that the course was thoroughly lacking in terms of practical application with little to no focus on things outside of theory.
View moreThe programs Macquarie offers are very well rounded, with sufficient emphasis on practical skills, industry knowledge, and experience. The communities within Macquarie are open and welcoming, making it easy involve yourself in social, service or career orientated activities.
View moreLiked the vocational and practical nature of what was being taught. Was not all theoretical. All teachers were excellent. There was an air of academic rigour, although mid term exams could have been run a bit more efficiently and with a bit more governance on a few occasions.
View moreI’m early on in my program but my university is large. And local. So many people from my high school go there that it almost feels like high school still. It’s so local. I love this and I hate it cause I have a close friend in each of my degrees (I study two: Commerce and Psychology), but I also see people I would rather leave in the past. The program is as interesting as it can be, though studying in university is, in essence, studying in high school without the fun, unless you have friends in your course. It’s learning all content without a laughter break. They do ice breakers for the first class of each subject, but most of us change our classes around for the first month so you end up not knowing anyone anyway and since there’s barely any time to talk, most of the time you’re sitting alone or sitting with people and not talking. Despite this, socialising outside of class is made quite simple with the vast array of clubs available to join and the events planned by each. There’s a career newsletter released weekly and coupled with my double degree I feel employment prospects are bright. There are international students but I’ve yet to meet them, coupled with covid issues I think they may be predominantly online.
View moreThe MBA program at MGSM met the core objectives in a thorough manner with enough elective modules to choose from as per one’s need to specialise in specific areas of study. Group work with the cohort was very enriching.
View moreI loved my time at Macquarie. They put a lot of pressure on you, but the teachers truly want you to excel. Mostly, it’s a learn at your pace sort of environment but teachers are always there to help out when needed.
View moreThe Master of Applied Linguistics (TESOL) has helped me to gain employment as a casual online English tutor.
As the master’s program did not have a research component when I was completing it and because I do not have a teaching qualification, I have found it difficult to gain secure full-time employment in the TESOL in schools in Australia and in higher education sector.
It would be a good idea to decide on your career path and get specific information from the Course Convenor before commencing this course.
View moreThe educators at this university are very skilled and experienced in their relevant fields and they all hold a high level of education themselves. The teaching capability is a strong highlight of this university.
