Paris is always worth a visit. The “City of Lights” attracts millions of tourists per year. With its sights and museums, charming cafés and historical buildings, Paris one of the most popular tourist destinations.
Getting to Paris
It doesn’t have to be expensive to get to Paris. Take a look at coach companies such as Flixbus and Eurolines. And if you are travelling from the UK, then taking the Eurostar might be a great option, too. Ever since low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Easyjet etc.) started selling tickets for 20 Euros, flying has become the most enticing option. The sooner you start planning your trip, the better. Try to avoid school holidays to get the best deals. I would recommend aiming for a mid-week trip as weekends tend to be super busy.
The first thing you should do when you get to Paris- figure out whether you want to spend all day walking around the city or whether public transport might come in handy when your poor feet can’t take it anymore. You could buy a carnet of 10 tickets that you can use on the metro or bus. If you already decided on using public transport all day, then you’d better get a one-day Mobilis travel card. I highly advise considering taking the metro as I once walked three hours because I underestimated how far the Eiffel Tower was from where I started walking. To be fair, it looked super close, but I guess it was a deception. Having said that, I hit my daily step goal so yay-me!

Main attractions in Paris
Now that you are all set, it’s time to think about all the great places that you want to see. Paris’ main attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre should be on your list.
The Eiffel Tower
Ticket prices to go up the Eiffel Tower range from 5€ (if you are under 24 and willing to take the 704 stairs) to up to 12,50€ ( if you want to take the lift all the way to the top). But even if you decide against spending money on admission fees, you should still check out the Eiffel Tower at night. Every night from sundown to 1:00 am, at the beginning of each hour, you can enjoy the fantastic light show.
Now that you have ticked off the most famous attraction in Paris, it’s time for a pleasant stroll along the river Seine. Maybe treat yourself to a yummy Crêpe, you are going to walk for a while so you will earn it. If you keep walking along the Seine, you’ll eventually get to see a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Get your cameras ready!
Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre
The next stop on your tour could be Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre, a church and minor basilica on the hill Montmartre. Don’t let the many steps scare you off- the climb isn’t that bad. I like to pretend I’m Rocky Balboa, making my way to the top while listening to “Eye of the Tiger”. When you finally reach the top, you’ll appreciate the view, even more, knowing that your “hike” was worth it. There’s more to explore while you’re up there. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and maybe get one of the many artists to draw you.
A must-see: The Louvre
The Louvre Museum is the world’s largest art museum and a historical monument. Besides being known for its display of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” (which is way smaller than I expected), the Louvre is a great place to spend some of your precious time. And maybe it’s time for a short lunch/dinner break? Good thing that the Louvre has a McDonald’s. So, if you’re hungry and not fussy about having fast food, then there you go.
Paris guide to Shopping
How about some shopping, now that you saved money on food? Paris most famous street, the Champs-Élysées is another must-see. It has everything a Shopaholic desires. From cute souvenir shops to luxury brands. It’s always fun walking into the Louis Vuitton store even though there’s no way I’m able to afford any of the clothes that they’re selling.
The Arc de Triomphe
If you haven’t seen the Arc de Triomphe yet, then it’s time you do. TheArc de Triomphe de l’Étoile is one of the most famous Parisian monuments; it’s located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. Visitors can take a lift up to the attic, where there is a museum that displays models of the Arc. From there, it’s only another 46 steps until you reach the top, the terrasse, from where you can enjoy the amazing view of Paris.
