Over I like the university and the program. Definitely use rate my professor to figure out who to take or not to take classes with. In general make sure your advisor is someone you get along with because they can make your college experience that much better
View moreI loved my time at Penn State. The sense of community and excitement about being at Penn state was unreal. And it was cool graduating and seeing alumni and feeling a sense of pride that you both went to Penn state. I personally got involved with a club and made many of my friends there. People always say that Penn state is too big but it’s really not. You put in what you get out. If you are struggling, go to office hours with a TA. I saw the same people everyday, and you join your own little communities. I would recommend Penn state to anyone, it really helped me get out of my comfort zone and offered everything I needed to advance my career.
View moreI have really loved most of my experiences so far being an international student here at Penn State (like the football games, making friends, and all the activities and clubs the school had to offer). It’s obviously not perfect (e.g. not turning away Fascist speakers because since it’s a public university they can’t infringe on people rights to ‘freedom of speech’, and also going back in their promise to establish a race and equity office, among many other things…), but I think as long as those of us who care and want to build a better more equitable community can see this come to pass if we work together and never give up!
View moreMy program is great for those that really are interested in biological systems and involves a lot of chemistry and biology. It is rather challenging though so be wary. Communicating with your professors will go a long way and don’t be worried if you don’t complete everything in exactly 4 years. Penn State allows you to take an additional 5th year and automatically obtain your master’s.
