Flexibility and Scholarship

I am currently studying Bachelor of Computer Science at the University of the People (UoPeople), and overall, my experience has been positive and worthwhile, especially considering the university’s mission and model.

The strongest highlight is flexibility. UoPeople is ideal for working professionals, international students, and anyone who needs an affordable, self-paced higher education option. The curriculum in Computer Science is well-structured and covers key foundational areas such as programming, data structures, databases, operating systems, and networking. The emphasis on independent learning and peer discussion pushes you to actually understand the material rather than memorize it.

UoPeople is a serious academic institution, not a shortcut degree. It demands discipline, time management, and self-motivation. If you are someone who needs constant supervision, you may struggle. But if you are self-driven, it offers real value, especially at a fraction of the cost of traditional universities.

I somehow dislike the limited real-time interaction with professors and reliance on peer assessments, which can sometimes be inconsistent. Plus, no physical campus life means networking requires extra effort. But I guess that is the downside of online learning, not a UoPeople problem

Would I recommend it? Yes! I recommend UoPeople to students who are disciplined, motivated, and looking for an affordable, flexible path to a degree. If you are ready to take ownership of your learning, UoPeople is a solid option. UoPeople rewards effort. You get out what you put in. If you approach it seriously, the education is real, respected, and impactful.
