Studying for my Master of Education at the University of the People has been a transformative experience. One of the things I appreciate most is the flexibility of the program. As someone juggling work and family responsibilities, the online, asynchronous structure allowed me to study on my own time without compromising my other commitments.
The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, focusing on practical and global perspectives in education. I particularly valued the international classroom environment—discussing educational theories and practices with peers from different cultural and professional backgrounds gave me broader insights and a deeper understanding of global education challenges.
However, it’s not without challenges. The program is very self-driven, so staying motivated and managing time effectively is crucial. Since it’s tuition-free (aside from minimal assessment fees), resources are somewhat limited compared to traditional universities, and there’s a greater need for self-initiative in learning and research.
Overall, I found the experience intellectually rewarding and personally enriching. It helped me grow as an educator and deepened my commitment to equitable and accessible education
