I have had a positive experience studying Business Administration at the University of the People. As a refugee living in Kenya, the university has given me the opportunity to pursue a U.S.-accredited degree that would have been difficult to access through a traditional university. The flexibility of the online learning model allows me to balance my studies with work and other responsibilities.
The courses are well structured and encourage critical thinking, research, and collaboration through discussion forums and written assignments. Most instructors are supportive and provide useful feedback, while learning alongside students from many different countries has broadened my perspective.
The biggest strengths of the university are its affordability, accessibility, and global learning community. However, students should be prepared for a self-directed learning environment. Success requires good time management, consistent effort, and strong motivation. Response times from administrative services can sometimes be slow, and the peer assessment system is not always perfect.
Overall, I would recommend the University of the People to students who need a flexible and affordable pathway to higher education and are willing to take responsibility for their own learning. It has helped me build knowledge, confidence, and skills that I can apply in both my career and my community.
