I would say it is a good fit for students who enjoy STEM. The tech classes, on average, are at a higher level than many other schools I know. The campus is so diverse (so there are all kinds of crimes lol), and you can always find communities or clubs which best represent you. There is also freedom in the air. The thing I like the most is that the food nearby is so good! The south food square and Downtown Berkeley perfectly satisfy my craving for all sorts of food. However, as a public school, it is really hard to get in touch with professors, so this is definitely something you should seek to solve. A friendly warning is that, get prepared! Everyone is so enthusiastic about their studies and hobbies, and there is no shortage of talents on campus!
