I think the hardest part about Berkeley is the competitive, almost cut-throat, atmosphere among students but this is also Berkeley’s strongest point. It ensures students step out of their comfort zones and find their own path in college. There are unlimited opportunities at Berkeley and this may be overwhelming at first, but it is something that grows on to everyone in due time and is invaluable as it prepares us for the real challenges that await us post-college. A downside at Berkeley is that often students find themselves lost in the crowd, considering the massive size of the university. This can be really overwhelming in the long run and students should definitely factor this into their college decisions. Unlike other places, to be successful over here, one must be prepared to run around, chase professors and do everything by themselves. Academically, the coursework is definitely challenging, but again, it is something that you get used to and learn to work around as you make progress in the university. Another advantage at Berkeley is its diverse student body and all-inclusive environment. There are events for almost all global festivities held on campus and this gives students an opportunity to experience and learn more about different cultures and traditions.
