I loved how the professors were passionate about the student’s future; they were more involved in every aspect such as teaching. The homework work was a lot but helpful in the biology program and it helped.

Texas State University at San Marcos is the school to go to if you want a true Texas college experience. Not only do you have most studies/degrees available, if not all, but you also have challenging professors that want the best for your education. While you are hitting the books hard for half the day, you can have a great student or nightlife for the other half by enjoying the beautiful city that can easily relax anyone in my opinion. The education is challenging and gratifying, the student activities/life is active and proactive, that can meet anyone’s needs, accommodation is decent, those who work in this department try their best with what they have, and overall everything is satisfying as a student. Personally, what I will always remember Texas State for is the “work/life” balance, the professors are understanding in the sciences discipline, but they do have expectations and provide challenges built around you if you communicate with them. I would highly recommend anyone to apply and study at Texas State University at San Marcos.

The campus at Texas State is so gorgeous. The trees in the fall turn a red and yellow and that’s so cool because our colors are maroon and gold. The location is perfect as well. The river is amazing and overall, Texas State University is the best college in Texas in my opinion.

The English department has a great staff. The teachers really care about the students. Although it’s a big school you never feel like just another student. The school is an easy distance between San Antonio and Austin.

I would say that my experience so far has been interesting. Being in a new town and place that’s so far from home and has really opened my eyes. I’ve been able to learn more about myself and who I want to become. I am excited to learn in my program and see what my future holds.

This campus is absolutely beautiful, they’re constantly growing, and have a lot of unique attractions close to the school, like the San Marcos River, glass-bottom boat tour, and tubing. The school itself is good in some areas, depending on the major that you choose. Personally, as a Theatre Education major, I was supposed to graduate in December of 2022, but they had me pushed to graduate in 2024. The reason is in some classes, especially being a senior, there are limited seats and only 2-3 sections. So there are 10,000 seniors, but only 400 get to be in this class. This is also a very political campus, use that to your own preference.

First of all, Texas State is beautiful. The crystal clear river flows right through campus, and there’s plenty of spots on campus to sit under a flowering tree. Second, in general, TxSt professors genuinely care about their students. In honors classes and even in larger lectures, TxSt sets up resources for you to succeed. Third, Texas State is on a fast track to becoming a major research institution. It’s rapidly growing, adding majors, and adding advanced degrees. I miss my days in San Marcos continuously. Just a short drive from San Antonio AND Austin! In general, the college and local communities are progressive, and you have no trouble finding LGBTQIA groups, environmental groups, and major-specific activities.
