What Is an International Business Degree?

Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.

International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.

Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.

Benefits of an International Business Degree

A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.

The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.

Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.

International Business Degree Structure

International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.

The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.

    Opposite of high education

I would only recommend this university to people with low grades seeking an easy degree. Due to the small size of the university and attendance not being required, you can expect your class to be from 2-10 people. There are no extracurricular activities offered, no volunteering opportunities, and internships and jobs are only for 3rd years above. Students are known to hang around the miniature campus if you can call it that, drinking and smoking. The only good thing I can say about this place is that people are highly friendly; from teachers to employees and students.

We’re sorry your experience has not been positive. We highly encourage you to contact your Student Academic Advisor to let them know the details and improve your experience. There is a Student Academic and Careers Advisor available in each campus, who can explain how and where you can check the extracurricular activities organized by the university (the Global Calendar of Events is posted every month on Blackboard). At Schiller, our classes are organized in small groups so we can provide a personalized attention. Take into account that due to Covid, our aim has been to care for the safety and hygiene of our students, and during the last twelve months, our classes have been even more reduced than usual (an average of 12 student on a regular basis). Like most American universities, and as ruled in the Bologna agreement, Schiller is a non-attendance seeking institution, hence we do not focus on registering attendance, but on the students’ class participation (which is assessed in each lesson), meaning absence affects the students’ grades negatively. In addition, our students also have to demonstrate their abilities with compulsory papers and tests.
