As a French international student, Oakwood University provided the supportive community I needed to thrive both academically and personally. This Historically Black College and University (HBCU) is a faith-based, family oriented institution where students are seen as individuals — not just numbers.

With class sizes ranging from a few as 3 to around 30 students, I found an environment that welcomed me as a non-native English speaker. I felt seen, heard, and encouraged to participate. The small classes also meant direct access to professors — educators who propel us forward, walk alongside us, and often become our mentors and biggest cheerleaders.

Oakwood University is a global campus, welcoming students from all over the world — each with unique backgrounds, beliefs, and stories, yet united by a shared goal: to be equipped and transformed into agents of change for today’s world and tomorrow’s challenges.
