In 1973, there was a merger with New Jersey School of Architecture and there was an evolution in academical terms, as the college started to empasize a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as an investment in research and public service. Along with all these changes, the college was rebaptized as well, to New Jersey Institute of Technology, which still stands today. In 1982 the College of Science and Liberal Arts was established, and six years later the School of Industrial Management as founded as well. In 1994 the Albert Dormans Honors School was established and in 2001 the College of Computing Services was created. Since then, the school has been expanding steadily, and has been more and more praised year after year.

Academics in New Jersey Institute of Technology

Currently, the university has five colleges covering a wide range of academic departments (Newark College of Engineering, College of Science and Liberal Arts, College of Architecture and Design, Ying Wu College of Computing Sciences, Albert Dorman Honors College) and one school (Martin Tuchman School of Management) comprised, organized into 21 departments. Recently, the Management School was accredited by AACSB, and it is ranked by Forbes as the 299th best national university.

Student Life

With about 80% of the student body living on campus, there is a good environment and there is always some event or activity going on. The univeristy sponsors 20 varsity sports teams, such as basketball, volleyball, swimming or baseball, and the support from its students is very good, and the results are shown, as most teams play in the first division.

There is a wide variety of restaurants and coffee shops that satisfy all the 11,000 students needs, and there are also many clubs and organizations that any student can join and have an extracurricular activity.

New Jersey Institute of Technology is a university that has a solid history and a place where the bar is high, so it prepares its students for a great future!
