ISU is mainly focused with Engineering Programs and Vet Med Studies. If those are the fields you are wanting to study, this is definitely the school to attend!
However, if you decide to study English as your major, be prepared for the lack of printing credits but also having a lot of options for teachers or opportunities. Though the professors are great, the English department is small. And with advisors, you only get the option of two to three advisors that focus on specific types of subjects; Linguistics and overall Liberal Arts. There is not necessarily an advisor focused strictly on Literary analysis or even creative writing.
View moreIowa State University offers a unique environment that fosters both academic exploration and critical thinking. One aspect that I particularly appreciate is the flexibility to delve into subjects beyond my main major. Unlike the rigid structures of some educational systems, the university encourages students to broaden their horizons and pursue diverse interests.
Coming from a background of spoon-fed education, I’ve found the transition to Iowa State University incredibly eye opening. Here, I’m not just memorizing information; I’m learning how to think critically and independently. They also emphasize on emancipation and this equips me with the skills to work in the real world.
View moreI came to Iowa State University in 2022. I am a current freshman about to be a sophomore working towards having a degree in Event Management. Personally I think Iowa State University is great. I love how beautiful the campus is and there are a lot of great resources to help make your experience even better. The only thing I would say that isn’t the best is the dining hall experience. UDCC is the newest renovated dining center. The food itself I would say is average but there just isn’t enough seating. Other than that the campus has lots of things to get involved in and people here are welcoming. So far I have a good experience with the campus so far. It’s lead me nothing but successful for my future.
