University is much more fast-paced compared to colleges/sixth-form but UoY makes it so manageable with their schedules and reading weeks. of course not everyone gets a reading week but it’s still manageable The holidays, terms and exams are really nicely organised too but the exam schedules should come at least three months in advance in my opinion so for students struggling so they can manage their modules better. The university has so many societies so you can discover and do anything you. I’ve suffered with mental health and my teachers are so supportive, especially my Supervisor, the Head of the department who keeps regular checks, Open Door and the Learning Support. UoY gives you so many opportunities to explore so much for example I’ve applied to a scholarship that gets a group of students together to come up with a business-related idea and then make that idea happen and it’s such an amazing opportunity because I’ve always loved business even as a Biomed Student. The university campus is gorgeous and perfectly safe to walk around at any time and enjoy your scenery. The only other cons aren’t to do with the uni but the bus services which are never on time and hard to rely on the online app as it’s almost never correct and the lack of takeaway services, especially in the evening. Being from London I’m used to much more.
