What Is an International Business Degree?

Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.

International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.

Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.

Benefits of an International Business Degree

A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.

The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.

Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.

International Business Degree Structure

International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.

The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.

    UoN was a blast

I had a really lovely experience at UoN, with wonderful support from the Law School and a beautiful campus to enjoy daily. I highly recommend this institution to anyone looking for a lively and enriching undergraduate experience!

A chance to get seminars from the leading scholars in their field!

The philosophical and international approach to law is a great element in the Master’s degree, which is something everyone should have a look at! More importantly, the professors are great in their field. The campus is also one of the best in the UK. My only caveat is that the university’s accommodation prices are higher than average house costs around the campus.

    Room for improvement

The university provides a respectable future prospect for students, however, the semenyih campus has room for improvement in terms of area where student profile building could be done. Generally, as an international relations student, I would hope to see more programs to allow us to integrate our student life with a future career during the university period.

    Almost Perfect

The Campus is Great for anything, whether for a social outing or to just relax. It’s a big walk stretching 30-45 minutes to go through it and you’ve got cafes and places on the way. The only concern is that there are certain teachers that sometimes, and in my personal experience, do not aim to provide you with 100% of their efforts like you do to your studies. You’d receive a mark with sometimes fairly little comments on the paper. That’s a big no-no from me as academics, especially after the first year, is my priority.

    General Overview of Uni Law

    – very harsh marking
    – May not always explain things efficiently (they expect you to get a lot of it on your own)
    – most professors are excellent
    – expensive overall
    – accommodation is expensive, DO NOT go for catered accommodation
    – exam feedback sessions are not very helpful, you’d have to hunt down examiners to get what you want.
    – very competitive environment
    – too focused on commercial law
    – elitist in some ways.

Good uni but can do better

The uni is good. Most of the professors are good. However, some of them are not helpful at all and end up confusing the students more than helping them out. The libraries are well stocked and have a good system. It would be helpful to convert the libraries into 24-7 access throughout the year instead of only during exam periods.

Gorgeous Campus - Nightlife could be improved

The architecture and grandeur of the main campus is unbeatable. I fell in love with this university the moment I set foot on the grounds. It has a very European feel, likely due to the lake and bicycle infrastructure. The nightlife however could be somewhat improved. There is a good selection of bars and clubs, but still not quite as many as back home.
