When I started my nursing career in 2020, I wanted to go to a university where I would be encouraged and where I could feel secure and explore. Manchester Metropolitan University has given me the tools I need to have a better grasp of what I see and do while on placement. Regardless of Covid, the course has always allowed us as students to express our opinions and feelings in efforts to better teaching for ourselves and future generations. The clinical skills and simulation rooms have been beneficial to me as a visual learner. The ability to rehearse situations in the patient flat lecture theatre enabled me to gain confidence and learn from my colleagues.

Reflecting on my experience, I believe that one area that should be improved is when we receive our placement allocations. Despite the fact that I am not a parent, many individuals have difficulty to get childcare, on such short notice. The university has acknowledged this and has provided supporting letters to help parents find day care and have stated they will aim to release this information two weeks prior, but this still requires improvement. Another area to highlight is the order in which we learn some topics. Understandably, I recognise that my cohort’s clinical skills sessions were postponed due to Covid but rearranging the sequence might assist students to expand and deepen their grasp of topics. An example of this is to review biological systems and their functions from first year, then go on to learn about the disorders associated with each system. I believe this change would have allowed me to understand better.

Manchester as a city has good transport links enabling you to also explore the surrounding cities, with lots of activities and places to eat, there are endless things for you and your friends to enjoy. I would recommend Manchester Metropolitan University to others as the level of support I have had access to encourages me to finish and gain my certificate. The staff truly recognise just how challenging this course is at times and have allowed me to vent when needed, assisted me with creating plans of action and followed up to see how things were going. The University also supports students by signposting to nursing career events. These are things I truly appreciate. Looking back now in my third and final year, I have been able to grow so much. I love my journey and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

The professors teach well and are always willing to assist in any way possible. The facilities are great and modern. The Library also has a lot of resources. The librarians also are always willing to assist.

My lecturers are top notch and ask if we have anything that we think can be improved on during the lectures. I am confident I chose the right school and course. I am highly optimistic about getting good jobs after graduation.

It’s my first time studying outside my country. It’s amazing what a beautiful experience I’ve had in such a short time here. I’ve got lecturers who do their best to ensure students understand each course. The classrooms are comfortable and well lit. There are exciting corners that I can hang out with friends or use for reading. If I have my way, all my friends and family would come study at ManMet. The tuition may be higher than some, but its value is for your money. As an international student, I’ve enjoyed several benefits like study skills sessions (online, physical and 1:1). I’m happy here and I love everything about this place. I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything. However, accommodation issues arose when I first came 2 months ago. It was difficult getting a place probably because I didn’t start searching on time, while still in my country. I think adequate provision should be made for postgraduate students as well. It’s been an amazing experience so far. The lecture halls are nice and very conducive for learning. Also the lecturers are good at what they do, they take their time to teach and ensure you understand.

I am an M.Sc Adult Nursing student. I’ve been in the school for nearly 3 months, my experience so far has been missed, as it can be overwhelming and exciting. I was anxious at first, but gradually I am having better control and becoming more confident in my course. My lecturers are wonderful.

I love everything about the school. The teachers are very good and are always willing to assist us especially international students. They have all the facilities a d well-equipped studio needed to study nursing.

The program is quite busy and challenging but very interesting. I love the fact that there are good facilities to facilitate the study and the tutors are well equipped intellectually to deliver the course. On the downside, accommodation is a serious issue, especially for international students.
