I enjoyed the tutors and lecturers, the third year Psychology choices were the most unique and fascinating of the course including ones on Occupational Psychology and the Brain itself.
It was a difficult location in Egham to get to through public transport as it is not accessible through the London transport scheme.
View moreBeing a top Russell group university, royal Holloway is both impressive in the stats and through looks. The gorgeous orange brick building was originally a women’s college and the feminist spirit is still present today. Every member of staff is approachable and dedicated and choosing this uni was the best choice I’ve ever made. I feel safe on campus with 24/7 CCTV and access to security as well as being proud to be part of the community. Rhul uses an online platform called Moodle to distribute resources, it’s a well organised, easy to use system that allows access to all recoded lectures, slides and quizzes. I study clinical psychology and would highly recommend it to anyone! The course is well structured and engaging.
View moreOverall the university is quite good. The lecturers are extremely helpful and down to earth which allows for their teaching to be clear and enjoyable. However, there are some small issues that at times can significantly affect students. For example, unlike many universities, Royal Holloway does not provide a plagiarism checker when students submit work. While I appreciate that this is to encourage good practice I think some students get paranoid when it is not available for them even if they have not committed an offence. As well as this, the school is not particularly forgiving when it came to some international students who went home for Christmas and were anxious to come back due to the increasing number of cases. Finally, another issue that affects a lot of students is the difference in opinion of markers. There are times were two students do similar things in their work but are provided with different feedback and this can be misleading at times. It would be appreciated if there was a way for work to be marked by a secondary person before being released to students.
View moreI really enjoyed doing my undergraduate psychology studies at RH! I like the campus which is nice and small but with nice buildings. A good mix of new and old buildings. The research reputation, especially in psychology, is excellent. Campus for me is a bit far. It is not in London and although you can take a train that train comes every hour with 4 trains. I think living in RH is the best option rather than travelling from London.
View moreThe staff are the most helpful; The overall ambience of the university is unimaginable. The value of the students’ wellbeing and enjoyment is taken deeply into consideration and they appreciate the students in general.
View moreI had a great time whilst at RHUL. The campus and facilities were amazing, student group great (I made alot of friends) and really enjoyed my course (Psychology). I had great support from the final research project teacher and our group got our research published a few years later!
View moreI really enjoyed my time at Royal Holloway, I would definitely recommend it! From the pretty campus to the welcoming atmosphere, to the friendly people and helpful lecturers, I have nothing to complain about.
