Overall the university is quite good. The lecturers are extremely helpful and down to earth which allows for their teaching to be clear and enjoyable. However, there are some small issues that at times can significantly affect students. For example, unlike many universities, Royal Holloway does not provide a plagiarism checker when students submit work. While I appreciate that this is to encourage good practice I think some students get paranoid when it is not available for them even if they have not committed an offence. As well as this, the school is not particularly forgiving when it came to some international students who went home for Christmas and were anxious to come back due to the increasing number of cases. Finally, another issue that affects a lot of students is the difference in opinion of markers. There are times were two students do similar things in their work but are provided with different feedback and this can be misleading at times. It would be appreciated if there was a way for work to be marked by a secondary person before being released to students.
