A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.
The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.
Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.
Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.
According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.
Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.
Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.
Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.
Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.
As my academic journey comes to an end, I wanted to say that I really enjoyed my Marketing and Management course at Queen Mary. The lecturers are engaging and knowledgeable, providing valuable insights into the theory and practical applications of marketing and management principles. The course covers a wide range of topics like consumer behaviour, digital marketing, operations management, and strategic management, which gives a well-rounded understanding of the field.
The university has good facilities including modern lecture halls, computer labs, and a large library which supports my studies well. There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved with clubs, societies, and networking events, which enhance the overall experience.
One highlight has been the group projects that simulate real business scenarios. Working in teams has helped me develop important skills like leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving that will be useful in my future career. The diverse student body at Queen Mary also provides an international perspective.

View moreQueen Mary University of London is an exciting place with a unique atmosphere. It is known for being the most inclusive university from all the Russell Group universities.
From the moment you step onto campus, you can feel the buzz of passion from students which is even more potent when you reach your lectures and seminars. Everyone who is accepted into the university are like-minded individuals and I have found that the friends I have made are all encouraging towards each other to strive for the maximum potential. On top of this, the dedication from my professors on my Marketing and Management course are more than satisfactory as they set aside many out of hours sessions for students that I have taken upon myself to use many times when needing extra help. The professors help explain further in detail and even suggest readings to help expand knowledge greater.
It is unfortunate that the University however sees a lot of strikes meaning a lot of lectures and seminars are missed meaning independent learning is vital at this university. Although the ability to do independent learning is a characteristic all university students must carry, sometimes the interactive side of university is what keeps up the motivation.
Other than my experience with my course, my experience with university societies definitely enlighten my time here. There are so many different types of societies that hold so many events so you are never left lonely. On top of this, there are endless opportunities for internships, work experience and more as the university holds many events for students. Personally, I have found great opportunities at events like this.
Overall I recommend this university for anyone regardless of whether you’re an introvert or extrovert, there is something for everyone at Queen Mary.
