I am a first-year student at London Metropolitan University studying international relations with languages.
University is a diverse environment with people of all ages and from all over the world. Furthermore, the university has a student union where you can join various groups and discover what you like.
Student unions are organisations that assist students in feeling included in a specific group; we can volunteer and develop various skills that may be useful in the future and make the most of the time as a student here.
The university offers various services to students, such as those for students with children, those with disabilities, those with financial difficulties, and so on.
The university always seeks student feedback to improve areas that require more innovation; for example, exams were removed from my course because students from the previous year agreed that exams were not determining the knowledge they were acquiring.
The library has an extensive collection of books and is open till late, allowing you to stay and complete all of your research. In addition, you have access to other libraries as a student. There are also quiet areas and areas for group work, as well as numerous computer tables.
There is a cheap buffet with various food options and a cafe with cheap coffee and tea.
A rocket pub, which hosts various events and sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, is also available, where you can hang out with your colleagues for some fun times.
The course structure is fascinating and intensive; many things must be done individually, but tutors are always willing to help.
Expect to feel overwhelmed at first. It is typical because it is a new experience, environment, and people.
At first, expect to feel overwhelmed. It is typical because it is a new experience, a new environment, and new people, but this is the place to meet people with similar or different interests, learn, and discover the world ahead of you. This is the place where your voice can be heard and where you can help to improve the world and society.

    An acceptable experience

In my truthful experience, my teachers were overwhelmingly proactive and efficient, especially when it came to uploading their lessons on Weblearn. During their office hours, they’re also very pleasant and understanding of your problems and try their best to offer up helpful solutions. It creates a mutually effective environment which improves everything about the experience. Something which extends itself to the entire uni, that community feel where people can rely on each other. It’s a non-suffocating, freeing and beneficial environment which really made the other parts of student life less difficult.

Facilities are also impressive, with a big library which sometimes opens 24/7, the free gym, and the Superlab. It’s a university constantly improving on its facilities and making everything accessible for its students, especially for those most in need. Despite its reputation, I found my university experience quite good for my betterment as a person. And that’s all that mattered to me.

Student Support; Community and Education Resources

London Metropolitan University is first class for academic support; lecturers are available to speak with students at any time and always try to aid students overall development. Lectures are structured to maximise student understanding, and seminars provide students with the opportunity to participate through discussions, game scenarios and simulations. These actives help to challenge and engage students, but it also helps individuals to develop social skills and connections. Clear guidance is continually provided regarding assignments to help students succeed, and feedback is clear and provided in a timely fashion. However, the institutions academic resources are quite dated, with many physical books in the library dating to the mid 90’s or earlier. This is common for many universities, but London Metropolitan University does not have an extensive catalogue of current literature, and when available, there is often only one or two books available to students. Furthermore, the university does not have an extensive catalogue of online resources for students to use, and many resources on databases like JASTOR are often unavailable to London Met Students, which can make extensive research difficult. Accommodation is not provided by the university, and very little is done to aid students when finding a place to stay. Beyond these negatives, London met does provide students with opportunities to find new friends through sports clubs and other activities, and the university has support in place to safeguard physical and mental well being. Overall, I would highly recommend the university, but it does need to modernise.

Great university with great Doctors and Lecturers that have enormous knowledge and experience. The best experience was to work closely with this professionals that are inspiring motivating. Also the wide range of students from different community and from different backgrounds are implementing the experience in the university to make it more open and international.

It is a very comfortable university to study a degree.

As a mature and foreign student, I felt comfortable from the beginning because the university is very inclusive and cares about its students. What I liked the most was the learning and that all the lecturers are very approachable and willing to help you during your university experience. You also have many facilities within the university that will help you succeed in your course. For example, the library is very easy to use and in terms of resources is quite complete. Without a doubt, I would recommend this university to all who are willing to experience a life-changing experience by getting a degree.
