This university is very student-centred and really listens to their opinions. There are plenty of resources to use, and there are constant events for the students to attend and meet others. The library is amazing and provides a great space to study, with plenty of space. I enjoy the levels in the library dedicated to different sound levels.
View moreThis university actually takes in students’ opinions and works on changing class policy based on student feedback. They have a lot of events always running. As a Canadian International student, I found this university comfortable and made a lot of friends.
View moreI loved my time at university. The tutors are really supportive and go out of their way to help students. The skills I developed at uni have allowed me to feel confident going into my career. Facilities are great and the library was really useful. Student accommodation could be better. However, overall would recommend the university.
View moreI did the MSc in Nutrition and Public Health at GCU in 2016. I came from Spain to do it and I was quite afraid of studying in English as it’s not my first language… however, I could not have gotten more support from absolutely everyone there! I always got personalized attention and advice when needed, and extra help and extension dates when I broke my wrist and couldn’t sit the final exam.
I loved the fact that almost every module had 3 types of class: theory, seminar and practical. This made it very fluent/interactive and never boring. I even enjoyed the cooking sessions! (And I hate cooking).
What was more challenging was the type of exams, as some of them were 3 hours long essays and I had never done that before. However, it all turned out well and I managed to pass the Masters 🙂
The fact that GCU has a students accommodation right in front of the uni was absolutely perfect, as I could go home to eat lunch during the breaks if I wanted to. I also loved the gym facilities and the student bar!
In conclusion, I only have good memories from GCU and the way they teach. Was a lot of fun.
I don’t think GCU offer the Masters’s program in Clinical health and Nutrition anymore, but it was a great course, with relevant modules and course content and a very enjoyable year. Could do with more career support at the end and after completion of the course
View moreSo far my experience has been excellent at GCU. I have nothing to complain about as a researcher student at SHLS. I have a great staff working with me, highly equipped laboratories, and a comfortable office.
View moreFull-fledged eye clinic with a fairly diverse patient base so students get a great deal of hands-on experience in the later part of their degree. The optometric scope of practice is expanding, especially in Scotland, so the syllabus places an increasingly heavy emphasis on secondary care (e.g., providing pharmaceutical interventions), which is great if you enjoy the clinical aspect of optometry. The school is also home to the Vision Research Group, which has carried out some notable research in the area of face perception and physiological optics (e.g., accommodation). The optometry department is also associated with some highly regarded work in dry eye in the past, TFOS etc.
View moreI had a laboratory-based programme, where I got really valuable experience with many different techniques and devices that have helped me to grow as a scientist from the very beginning.
Teachers and staff make you feel welcome and if you have a problem, they try to help you as much as they can.
I had a really good experience.
I am so pleased to be part of this institution that has always listened to my side of the story, providing support without bias. I recommend everyone to apply to GCU, it is not just a learning environment but also a home away from home.
View moreGCU is a very modern university. The campus is very central and it is beneficial that all the buildings are in the one area. The staff on my course have been very helpful throughout my time studying there. The other services available such as the careers service have been a great help to me, for example forming a CV. Also, the learning development centre have been useful when it comes to assignments – they are easy to contact via email or drop-ins.
