Are you passionate about the business and finance sector? Do you follow the national and international news? Then, an Economics degree is the answer. It has always been one of the most sought-after degrees amongst youth.
Economics degrees are designed to tackle all the issues that have an impact on financial situations, ranging from production to how resources are used. Candidates are trained to understand how the economy suffers fluctuations based on the market’s needs and wants followed by the market’s supply and demand.
By far one of the most crucial elements is that economics is divided into microeconomics and macroeconomic. Microeconomics deals with the economic behaviour at an individual level (companies, buyers, sellers and others), whilst macroeconomics illustrates the bigger picture, on a national or global scale (unemployment, economic growth, inflation and so on).
Having an economics degree increases anyone’s chances to find a job, regardless of the field. This is mainly due to the fact that graduates hold many transferable abilities, such as analytical and problem-solving skills, that are suitable for any career.
A study made by the London School of Economics and Political Science showed that graduates from an economics course have a starting salary of £33,000 per year. Having a job in the field right after graduation is a major positive aspect and comes with a lot of opportunities for career advancement.
Economics degrees are usually a three years commitment and sometimes are offered as part of a joint degree. This means that Economics can be studied along with another subject such as engineering, management, law, computer science and others.
This degree can be found either as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA). The BSc focuses more on economical theory and statistical techniques, while BA is combined with social sciences and qualitative modules.
Incredibly amazing university, the way they polish students and help them boost their morale and think intellectually is worthwhile. Many universities have international partnerships to allow exchanges between their students. The most obvious subjects for these opportunities would be those that involve languages, and the study of people and places.
View moreThe library is not open 24/7. Course is very theoretical and basic so far. Good thing is that there’s diversity. I’ve got people from 15 countries in my course. The professors are good but teach only from the PPTs.
View moreThe programme is a great opportunity for students wanting to develop a career either in the private or public sector. Thankfully, City offers the mix of excellent academic quality and professional development, considering most students in my class have already found either placements or internships on different sectors.
View moreAvoid this university like a plague. Huge waste of time and money. The lectures are 10-15 mins long, they do not teach anything and give horrible marks. The teaching is appalling, how the mighty have fallen! They do not live up to expectations! They promise you the world and give you nothing. They are only interested in your money.
I strongly recommend going to another university if you wish to learn and have a career, this university was a massive waste of time and money.
City University London is a really good university that you should really consider.

Location
The campus is located in north central London, with plenty of transport links, via two underground stations and multiple bus stops which makes travelling to and from an ease.

The university has top class facilities, and supports your course with just about everything you might need. For my course, I had free use of software needed in the uni computers, and free access to pertinent publications like the Financial Times and the Economist for example.
