As a student of BPP University’s Law program (PGDL/SQE route), I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I made for my career. I was initially nervous about choosing a specialist professional university over a traditional one, but BPP completely exceeded my expectations. What stood out most were the professors — nearly all are experienced practitioners (ex-solicitors and barristers) who bring real-world insights into every class. Their teaching is practical and scenario-based, simulating actual legal practice, which made challenging topics feel engaging and relevant. I felt genuinely excited (and sometimes overwhelmed in the best way!) tackling case studies that mirrored what I’d face in a training contract. The intensive workload was tough — long hours of study and formative assessments — but it built incredible resilience and prepared me thoroughly. I’m thrilled to share that I secured a training contract with a top City firm shortly after graduation, and I credit BPP’s career support team and strong industry connections for helping make that happen. The employability focus is real — seeing stats like 96% of graduates in highly skilled roles feels accurate based on my cohort’s success. The campuses (I studied in London) are modern, clean, and perfectly located in professional hubs, though it’s more like a dedicated study center than a big traditional campus with wild socials — perfect if you’re serious about your career.Yes, admin can occasionally be slow, but the teaching quality, practical skills gained, and the emotional high of landing my dream role made every moment worth it.
View moreBPP University’s unique approach to legal education truly sets it apart. The emphasis on scenario-based learning and real-world application creates an immersive experience that effectively bridges the gap between theory and practice.
As a student, I found myself constantly engaged in simulations and case studies that mirrored the challenges and complexities of legal practice. This not only deepened my understanding of UK law but also equipped me with the practical skills and confidence needed to excel in the field.
BPP’s commitment to student success extends beyond the classroom. The university’s exceptional career services and impressive employability rate provide a reassuring pathway to future career prospects. For aspiring legal professionals seeking a dynamic and supportive learning environment, BPP University is an excellent choice.
The quality of guidance provided by BPP University is something that should be highlighted. I am a student of master’s degree pursuing llm in commercial law. During my timetable of study with BPP I noted that they provide really well structured guidance. The faculty is one of the top notch, and the standards of education is also very professional since it is a master’s degree, they tried to maintain some sort of professions manner. Regardless to say time to time during my hardship i found the University to be a great source of help, either it is educational or personal health BPP was always there for me. Specially, since i am an international student who came to a cold country all of a sudden at the beginning i faced a lot of health issues but BPP always complied with me and provided help. Lastly, i would like to say that i would defiantly recommend BPP of law.
View moreMy experience at BPP university was amazing. Its study pattern is structured in a way that gives you the idea of practicing law in real life. Scenario based study really helped me in understanding the UK law.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to study at the BPP University as its employability rate is really high, and its career department is the best of all.
View moreEven though I joined the university two weeks after my course (PGDL) started, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The way the course was structured was truly amazing. It gave a sense of how the law is practised in real life. Applying the law to different fact patterns in each session helped me in learning the true application of UK law.
One reason why I gave the university four stars is that when I started the course, I had little guidance from the instructors regarding how to use the online learning system.
Overall, I had the best experience studying here, and I would highly recommend it to other international students.
View moreBPP University is an outstanding institution that has developed substantially over the last few years. The University appoints solicitors and barristers in order to help students achieve an outlook of the career path they have chosen. The University uses a different range of resources and provides students with all the study books for the academic year. On the other hand, I feel that the university can benefit from a better virtual staff environment. Since 2020 the University has been very unresponsive to student needs.
View moreA huge selling point for BPP is that classes are conducted in a small group, classroom setting. This makes it easy to ask questions and clarify information and also encourages high levels of engagement from students. Furthermore, the central location of the university provides an exciting environment for learning and socialising in the evening, in the heart of the capital.
View moreThe uni provides minimal information, they don’t proofread their materials so everything has mistakes including exam questions. They don’t tailor the coursework to the work we do at our firms and they don’t provide examples of what we need to provide.
View morePros
– The course is built around simulated client portfolios which not only makes it more interesting but helps you get familiar with using your legal skills and knowledge to solve real client problems.
– Some tutors are amazing at simplifying and explaining the course content.
– BPP offers a lot of great resources to facilitate independent study.
Cons
– Not all tutors are equal, some are better than others which means for some modules, you’re going to have to do a lot more independent reading to compensate for that.
– Doing the course fully online was not ideal but that’s not BPP’s fault. That was due to the pandemic.
View moreThe PGDL is a newly developed course. It replaces the GDL and it’s designed to support and prepare students for the new SQE 1 & 2 route to law.
I am completing the course remotely. The delivery of live lectures takes place on adobe connect. Lectures are mostly engaging, however, connectivity can sometimes be an issue due to the nature of the lectures relying on a good connection on both the lecture and students end.
The lectures could be more student-centered with the use of more student involvement however this is at the tutors’ discretion and not all tutors adopt engaging practices.
In terms of assessment and feedback, I am happy with the standard of the feedback. The assessments are clearly outlined, including exam material being available with lots of time to revise and an open book policy for all exams. The feedback is thorough and offers ways you can improve your grade.
There is an ongoing issue with tutors leaving BPP, there have been several tutors that have left the institution whilst I have been a student there. However, learning hasn’t been disrupted by this (so far).
Overall, I am satisfied with the course. There have been some occasional teething issues, and I think BPP should use another platform to deliver their online lectures, but this is the only concern I have. Other aspects of being a student with BPP are mostly satisfied.
