Here in Leicester as an international student and I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far. I feel like I’ve been able to create a strong support networks and have met lots of great people. They give you a personal tutor which gives you someone to reach out to for more support when needed and are able to build a good rapport with them. I’m really enjoying the course. Leicester has a new medical building where the lectures are given which is really nice. Then in a building across the road is where we do cadaveric dissection. Then for the final 3 years it’s placement so you’re placed in hospitals all over the East Midlands and this gives you the opportunity to get involved more practically and see in practice the things you learnt in lectures.
View moreCame to Leicester as an international student so already that was quite intimidating. But I liked how they had a specific intro week for the international students so you could make friends with people in the same boat as you. Felt like the uni really cared about you settling in and feeling comfortable. Lived in the student accomodation which was expensive I feel for what you get but the location was good and had an en suite which was nice. They held fresher events which gave the opportunity to meet other people in your accom. The campus has a nice vibe and everyone is friendly. Good variety of societies to join .
The course has been busy and diverse. Variety of ways teaching is given for lecturers to group work to placement, which stops it from getting too samey. People from all kinds of backgrounds and countries on the course which is really nice.
Train station isn’t too far away and there’s a uni shuttle bus if you live in the villiage accomodation which is a bit further from the campus.
Enjoying my time here and happy I chose to come to Leicester.
View moreGenerally a good uni and enjoy the course. The methods of delivery are varied with lectures, group work, dissection and placement. Gives a good opportunity to put into practice the content learnt. The med school building is nice and there’s good facilities. Campus is close to the amenities you need. SU has been done up recently with good food options but are kinda pricey. Large cohort of people and very diverse. The city is nice with a good amount or stuff to do and explore. Overall am enjoying my time here.
View moreGood uni that provides support when/if struggling. Lecturers helpful and easy to reach out to. Campus is in good location near Central Leicester so is a short walk to the train station and the shopping area. Student accommodation feels safe.
View moreReally good facilities offered in Leicester for the medicine course. The style of learning is varied and you feel well supported by the staff. There’s a pastoral support unit if you need extra help and the campus itself is nice. It’s very close to all major amenities and the city centre and train station are all walking distance. Have enjoyed my last few years here.
View moreI am currently in my 4th year (out of 5) and overall have really enjoyed my experience at Leicester. The course has been varied and well structured. I have enjoyed the clinical years more as it has given us the opportunity to get hands on and put into practice the content learnt. The course has been as I expected (with exception to the remote learning period of course- but even then the med school took a lot of effort into creating online resources to prevent our learning being hindered too much).
Whilst a challenging degree, the staff at Leicester are approachable and ready to give support when needed and have a friendly pastoral support team to use if needed. Campus is nice, perhaps on the smaller side compared to some unis but has nice facilities. The SU has been newly redone and the library is large and modern, with plenty of study space. The city is diverse, which I love, so you will meet people from all backgrounds and ethnicities. Another (major) perk is that there are so many good food options in Leicester. Generally it’s an affordable city, with everything you need in fairly close range. The city centre is varied and a short walk from the train station and Uni. Overall, I’ve had a good time my past 4 years living here.
There is a real friendly vibe at Leicester, like everyone wants you to succeed, staff and students alike. It didn’t feel too competitive or too much of a harsh environment. Support was always available if needed.
The clinical years so far have been very good at throwing you into the deep end and getting real hand on exposure of the content learnt.
Modern and really high tech teaching building, love the way the group work is structured with the same group for pre-clinical years, and the staff and lecturers are very good. There’s good support and pastoral care and the learning is thorough.
