A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.
The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.
Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.
Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.
According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.
Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.
Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.
Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.
Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.
No matter what you need help with there’s a department to give you a hand. I really recommend studying here as it is so helpful to have supportive people around to support and help you through any problems

The outstanding module and educational system in the institution brought me many opportunities in the future. Besides, the dynamic and inspirational environment of University of Strathclyde can enrich my mind and help me become a highly employable and creative graduate. My university also cares about mental health of students, especially during the exam diet. During my study at University of Strathclyde, I can enjoy my work life balance with positively affect my experience in the UK.
View moreAs a student of the Marketing & Psychology program at the University of Strathclyde, I can say that I had an incredibly positive experience. The university has a vibrant and supportive atmosphere, and I was able to form meaningful connections with both my classmates and instructors. The coursework was well-structured, and I appreciated the balance between theory and practical application. The program allowed me to dive deeper into both marketing and psychology and understand how they intersect, which was fascinating and eye-opening.
In addition to the academics, the university offers a range of extracurricular activities that I was able to participate in. This helped me to develop my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, which will be invaluable in my future career. The university also has excellent facilities, including a well-stocked library and modern computer labs, which made studying and researching easier.
View moreThe University of Strathclyde is a welcoming university, with an extremely diverse set of students. This diversity allows for Strathclyde to be an extremely open and accepting place that welcomes everyone. The programmes are intensive, engaging and inclusive. Many students come from all around the world, exposing the students to new cultures and traditions. After working as an International Student Ambassador for the University of Dundee it is so amazing to see the diversity and cultures in and outside the classroom!
View moreThe most efficient part of our programme was group project on actual company that we had participated. We had real experience working with the company and built projects. However, our department didn’t organize any event that students can participate and know each other more or socialize etc. Most of the students finished the semesters didn’t even got to know each other. Also department staffs help towards students were quite unappreciative.
View moreThe University of Strathclyde is one of the top ranking schools in the United Kingdom especially the business courses. I have completed my MSc in Marketing from Strathclyde Business School. My course was extensive and very detailed especially with case studies updated with trending topics. The course was better than expected. The course was hybrid with a mix of online and offline lectures giving me an opportunity to experience campus life. The lectures were interactive sessions with discussions which helped us students be involved and learn better. The campus and classrooms are spacious accessible and comfortable equipped with tools to make in class and online learning easier. The most interesting aspect for me was the in person class for Consumer Behaviour as most of the sessions outlined interactive sessions to create similar scenarios with us getting to enact consumers and marketeers. That provided us practical knowledge on the subject and its principles. I will definitely recommend the University of Strathclyde to a friend and I have as well resulting in two friends coming to the University later on.
View moreAn engaging course with valuable and varied options for students. There are always helpful resources available online and lecturers are an email away. However, I do think two years of getting used to online studies and jumping right back into in-person without as much help getting in the right mindset for it will result in higher stress and lower overall grades for examinations no matter how much students study.
View moreDuring the pandemic majority of my university experience was online and I was living at home so I really thought I hated my university and felt like I had missed out on the university experience as I didn’t live on campus and I barely even got to go into the building. However now that I’m in second year, my outlook towards my university has completely changed as I’m enjoying myself so much and have good group of peers around me and the course I’m partaking in is actually enjoyable
View moreMy first year was such a new experience for me and not quite what I expected. It was a new experience in the idea that I had to become very independent as to my experience in secondary school. First off had to pick my own classes and make my own timetable which was already a bummer to me because in secondary school this was all done for you. I had to make my own notes for lectures and had no extra individual support apart from tutorials. A lot of assignments and assessments on short timeframes. It was very overwhelming, to say the least, but it really taught me that this was what growing up was and how life is for everyone when you come out of the child stage.
In more practical terms when applying for my course I was unaware that my first year would intake of me doing every business course from finance to tourism to economics and so on. For me, I didn’t sign up for that and it was a waste of time because I applied for marketing and not the rest and I hardly got a feel of what my course was about. On the other hand, I guess it was good as it helped develops skills in areas that I’d need in the business world. Not only that but also gave me a rough idea of what other things there were to get involved in if I didn’t like marketing and grew a passion for subjects like economics and Business Analysis that I didn’t know I liked till I learned in that first year.
Overall be aware that you won’t stick straight into the deep end when you get to Strathclyde Business school but it is not always a bad thing bc you will develop a lot of skills. It will be part of your character development stage as I like to say!
View moreI am currently pursuing a postgrad in International Marketing and the course offers a wide horizon in the marketing industry. My personal favourite subjects were Brand Management and Cross-Cultural Consumer Behaviour because the classes had more discussions among the students and present their ideas in the class and more insights were provided by the professor after the breakout sessions which were fruitful. It was not nerve-wracking putting forward your ideas during class discussions. Likewise, in the second semester, guest lecturers sharing their experiences from the industries were insightful.
