I am currently studying Marketing at the University of Brighton, and overall my experience has been positive, particularly in terms of the practical and creative aspects of the course.
One of the things I value most is how the course combines theory with real-world application. Modules such as Professional Marketing Practice and Understanding Markets and Consumers have helped me build a strong foundation, while also encouraging me to think about how marketing works in real business contexts. There is a clear focus on developing skills that are relevant to future careers, such as teamwork, presenting ideas, and analysing audiences.
The lecturers are generally supportive and approachable, and there are opportunities to ask for help and feedback when needed. I’ve found that being proactive makes a big difference in getting the most out of the course.
Brighton itself is also a great place to study. It’s a creative and diverse city, which reflects well in the university environment. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in societies and extracurricular activities. I am part of the Islamic Society, where I contribute to creating promotional content and supporting events, which has helped me develop my communication and teamwork skills outside of my degree.
If I had to highlight one challenge, it would be that like many universities, your experience depends on how much effort you put in. Independent learning is important, so staying organised and motivated is key.
Overall, I would recommend the University of Brighton to students who are interested in a creative and practical approach to learning, and who are willing to take initiative and make the most of the opportunities available.
