    Incredible location for students

Brighton University isn’t anything special, however, the location is perfect for students. I come from a busy part of London and got into Brighton without doing too much research about it (it was my second choice and I was confident my first choice would be for me but it wasn’t) and was presently surprised about how small Brighton actually is. Everyone is super friendly which allows for student nightlife to be far more enjoyable.
The uni however has some bumps, with lectures being relatively boring, causing low attendance and lack of engagement, typically resulting in the same 3 people answering every question as if they’re the only people there.
Brighton is great for fun, there are loads to do and it feels safer than most places I’ve been to on a night out. However, the uni is relatively basic and could do with a bit of a boost.

    Interesting resources

Uni of Brighton is a ‘meh’ uni, it’s not amazing and groundbreaking but it’s not bad, it’s extremely good with some subjects but a lot of students I meet at Brighton come across as students who went to uni just because they didn’t know what else to do.
Some of the modules have boring delivery and can be lengthy and hard to keep focused. However sometimes you will get something great, such as using VR headsets to walk around a building designed on software, these lectures keep me engaged in my course and remind me why I’m doing it.
It’s easy to get bored so make sure you definitely know what you want to do before enrolling and be prepared for it to be a bit dull sometimes, uni isn’t as glorified as a lot of 18-year-olds think before starting it, a uni is a mature form of education and therefore it does get boring.

    Inadequate handling of a module

There has been a specific module called construction methods and technology. There have been several handovers of module leaders and deliverers. However, the university has not seen the impact it has had on countless students; causing stress, anxiety and unanswered questions. From a university’s point of view, a failure is what I would best describe the method for which the module has been delivered, and the progress to rectify the mistakes.
If this reaches someone important, that feels they can help. Please do.

Rubbish module delivery and patronising lecturers in certain areas

Some modules are delivered great and are engaging however some have been so poorly delivered, which doesn’t help when the lecturers are condescending and patronising. I haven’t had an actual lecturer since the third week at the beginning of the academic year, it’s now the end of April, to compensate for this and having several lectures postponed and being taught the wrong content, we’ve been given a 3 week extension! That’s it! As well as being told to ‘treat our lecturers like they’re our employers’ when we’re paying £9K a year to be here!
That isn’t to say certain modules aren’t Brighton delivered well with a lot of engagement and support, however, when things don’t go to plan due to unforeseen circumstances it really falls apart.
