I honestly think Bradford University is quite nice and underrated. It usually gets a lot of negative comments cause of it’s city as it has a high crime rate and is quite boring. But other than that it is a very decent uni. The lecturers are usually very nice and helpful and the course content is good (At least for my course- Mechanical Engineering). It was also the business school of the year in 2022 if I may add. It’s a small uni so it’s quite easy to express yourself and get noticed as there isn’t loads of people. It is also quite accommodating when it comes to international students, it’s kinda the friendliest university for international students.
There is some things to improve definitely but you can tell that the uni is also aware of that and they make concious effort to find ways to improve by sending surveys and asking students how to make thei learning experience better. I know it’s expected to do that but when you see the university’s effort to reach out to students, you’ll see that they actually care.
It’s very student centered, you can tell they are not just about the money like many uni’s these days.
I remember struggling in particular with my dissertations at University, both undergrad and masters. Dr David Bryant and Dr Munive Hernandez were key in helping me to get through. They not only guided me step by step but helped me to select topics that would best suit my understanding and interest. They didn’t just let me select one of the proposed topics but asked what part of Mechanical Engineering interested me and how well I wanted to do.
Essays and research were not so much my strong suit, I excelled more with my calculations.
Thanks to them dissertations would have seemed to stop me from graduating ending up pushing my scores even more.
I really don’t like my specific personal tutor, he always seemed bothered by any request for help that I would ask. I feel like they are just personal tutors in name and would much prefer you don’t even come to them. I honestly really disliked so much about this uni, disorganised, not enough support, late replies, some professors don’t even reply to their emails if they don’t feel like it. 100 per cent don’t recommend.
