As a Media and Communications student, my course involves using a variety of different equipment and editing platforms in order to complete assignments to my full potential. Birmingham City University offers the opportunity to use these tools through their hires and loans system which is available to all students who need it although, some training is required beforehand to ensure that you are aware of the correct procedures before using your equipment. A positive factor of their hires and loans system is that it has benefitted thousands of students as not only do they have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain experience in using different types of equipment but it also means that everyone is given the same opportunities to be able to complete their work to their best ability. However, I think that in order to improve this system, they could extend the amount of time students have to use it. For example, currently, they have a 3-day maximum period to hire all equipment out.

BCU has excellent campus facilities. Definitely one of the best on-campus experiences, career services and a very healthy environment. Friendly and approachable staff, student union team and teachers.
