The uni is fine in general. I studied in the Beytepe Campus; it’s a bit far away if you’re commuting from the city centre or any other place, but it’s green and offers a lot of fun activities and a true university experience that I wouldn’t have got in my home country. Our faculty’s building (IR in Economics and Administrative Sciences) was a bit outdated, with a toilet lacking toilet paper, classes not being cleaned etc. and showing underfunding, but it was fine in other aspects.
My degree was okay – I feel like I could’ve done more; it wasn’t challenging enough. When I went for the exchange, I saw how academia worked in other countries, that you can take classes from different departments, really mix and match, have career centres and other amenities. We had to attend all classes (with actual attendance sheets) for lectures, even if they were just presentations that I could’ve read at home, what was a bit annoying, but it is the whole education system, not the university’s fault. Also, my degree was in English, but some professors still conducted the classes in Turkish, or their level of English was not satisfactory. We mostly just listened and copied information that was then expected from us in the exam and I really wish students would be more involved, with some group projects or seminars. If you are a bit smart and clever, it is a fun and doable degree; I know, however, that people in other departments are really struggling. Overall, I think I would’ve picked a different uni if I could, but I’m doing the best with what I have here, enjoying the campus life.
Hacettepe University is one of Turkiye’s most prestigious and academically rigorous institutions, offering a diverse range of programs across multiple disciplines. The Beytepe Campus, with its green and spacious environment, provides an inspiring atmosphere for learning, while the well-equipped libraries and research facilities support academic excellence. The university is known for its high-quality faculty, many of whom have international academic backgrounds, and its strong emphasis on research, language proficiency, and interdisciplinary studies. While infrastructure in some faculties could be modernized, and career support services could be enhanced, Hacettepe excels in international collaborations, student exchange programs, and extracurricular activities, making it an ideal choice for students seeking a well-rounded education in Turkiye.

That’s why during my whole education even though i was in the law school, i could take Chinese, IT and marketing lectures at the same time.
View moreThe university is great in many respects. It is one of the best universities in Türkiye for a reason. It offers a wide range of courses and a long list of communities for people with differents hobbies and interests. The atmosphere is very social and friendly. Numerous food courts, cheap cafeterias, cofffee shops, farmacies, a hospital and different sports facilities can be found on campus. Many lecturers have an experience of studying and teaching in some of the world`s best universities. Mostly, they are very understanding but demanding as well.
View moreI think about my degree a lot. Academic stuff is not enough. By writing that I meant quantity not quality. I’m in the Faculty of Literature. My faculty is not aesthetically pleasing. We don’t’t have a fully functioning cleaning system at the classrooms and inside the building. It’s different for the outside of the building, though. I love our campus at Beytepe. We have a Valley that is called Yeşil Vadi. Where the ducks go swimming and the frogs growing day by day. You should see the forest. It is therapeutic. Especially during the midterms and the final exams.
