Education and academics were very good. beautiful school campus with very beautiful greenery. The ambience is very good and very warm.
Ankara is very cold especially if you plan to come in winter. Academic staff are very good professors who are competent in their fields.

The university is regarded as one of the best universities in the country, and I do agree in terms of its excellent academic staff from my department (American Culture and Literature). The administration of the university is, however, not the best. Student affairs barely respond, and the amount of staff in cafeterias, etc. are not enough

Great university with quality education and a fantastic campus. Faculty is top-notch, professional and friendly. The university is rated the 650th in the global university rankings and the third best in Turkey, so it’s among the best choices you can make. Cost of living is fairly low in Turkey and there are a whole bunch of things to do in your free time, so you can have a comfortable and fun experience without really breaking the bank.

It is considered one of the best public schools in Turkey, however it is an average one in the whole world. You can find faculties for every study field which is good but I cannot say the same positive feedback for the professors.

I studied master’s degree there. The university is among the best universities in Turkey. İt is in the capital city, Ankara. The transportation is cheap and comfortable. Turkish people are quite hospitable and friendly and helpful. The master’s program is a bit difficult but it is very quality. We have read many prestigious books and articles there. İ have turned many of my assignments into publications with the encouragement from my professors.

I studied American Culture and Literature there. The program was great. The teaching staff was very professional. There were lots of visiting professors who came to the university under the Fulbright program. Some of the courses were American literature, American poem, American history, diversity in America…
The campus is excellent because it is green, and full of trees, there is a hospital inside the campus for both students, graduates and the public. The doctors there are perfect.
There are very cheap and also very quality but expensive dormitories both inside and outside the campus.
I feel so lucky that I studied there.

The university is generally a good one, with a nice campus, library, green areas and trees. Most of the teachers are trying their best. But many things are not so good. Unfortunately, university life or studying is not just about teachers who know just their fields or courses.
First, being a foreigner is a big problem there, especially for language. Some teachers force foreign students to read, present and write in Turkish, even for English or optional program. The administration staffs are not so helpful to foreigners; they make you feel that you are not at “your place” (especially when you’re African). This makes the Hacettepe less international than it looks like or than it wishes to be.
Social and psychological life in Hacettepe is really horrible for foreign students if something goes wrong. No real assistance. For example, when start losing motivation, I told one of my professors in class. He responded to me: “this is not our business”. I felt so sad and kept quiet, I refused telling anything to anyone about my problems. Even when the teachers understood that my performance is decreasing and was talking about it, I had difficulties talking about and it took time to realize that I had depression. My visits to the university hospital were bad too.

HOW A UNIVERSITY CAN ASK YOU TO GIVE A CERTIFICATE TO PRESENT “ALES” YOU DIDN’T NEED TO START A PROGRAM BECAUSE YOU FELT SICK AND COULDN’T FINISH EARLY?

When you lost self-confidence, you’ll surely fail at university…

I hope that many things changed since the date (2017) I have suspended my program.

Hacettepe University is one of the leading educational institutions of our country with its success ranking among universities in the world and the opportunities it provides to its students. Especially the Beytepe campus of the university covers everything that students may need. In summary, if I were to study undergraduate education again, my preference would be Hacettepe University.
