Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.
International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.
Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.
A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.
The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.
Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.
International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.
The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.
A great program that covers all business related aspects, such as accounting, finance, HR, operations management and international business in general, while also allowing freedom to choose your own courses later on in the program.
View moreThe coursework is challenging, but it is also incredibly engaging, and I have found myself learning new things every day. Furthermore, the lecturers are all experts in their fields, and they bring their real-world experience to the classroom. The university’s facilities are brand new, and there are plenty of resources available to students.
The programmes at ESHCC are well-structured and the professors are always available to answer questions and provide guidance. It is challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding, and it has provided me with the skills and knowledge I need to succeed in my future career.
View moreOverall, the structure of the first year is sometimes a bit unorganised and some subject e.g. Accounting is taught badly. Despite this I cannot regret to study here, mostly because its amazing international environment and the practical approaches for some of the subjects e.g. Strategic Business Plan where we have to cooperate with a real company.
View moreI have done my Masters from RSM in 2018. My specialization was in International Management/CEMS. The experience was conducive and wholesome. It had a diverse batch and offered an exchange semester in one of the partner schools. RSM also organized several credited seminars and networking events. However, there were certain things that they can improve on. For instance, there was less autonomy on the selection of electives. Most of the electives were not available for a CEMS schedule. Apart from that, administrative representatives and instructors were extremely cooperative.
View moreI have been part of the school for an exchange program but have experienced the true student experience. The school has a diverse batch and it was easy to fit in. There were several school organizations to take part in and most of the professors encouraged us to be part of them. The highlight for me was the organizational step-up and open-door policy in the admin offices. Being an exchange student, most of our processes are stuck there but I faced no issue in getting them resolved. The city is quite vibrant as well and offered a good life there.
View moreI was there on exchange as part of my degree, CEMS Masters in International Management. Quality of education is definitely the highlight of the school since you would be taught by well-informed teachers. There was no language barrier since everyone spoke English in school and even around the city. The entire city is very welcoming towards students and foreign delegates. A lot of companies have their head-offices in Rotterdam which makes it quite viable from career prospects as well. Living conditions on the school dorms are quite acceptable plus everything is at walking distance.
View moreI love how not only my course, but the community Erasmus builds for internationals is amazing. Everyone is super open and there’s so many activations and events to help us meet other internationals- this has made coming to the Netherlands a lot easier and made it feel like home!
View moreErasmus University Rotterdam is a great place to study for both Dutch students but also internationals (like myself). I think the combination of the city, people, and university itself, make it a great place to study. I studied there during 2017-2020 and did the Bachelor in Communication and Media (IBCOM)
The university is located in Rotterdam; a modern city 40 minutes away from Amsterdam. The city has a great vibe; hipster, international, and quite modern compared to other Dutch cities. The city is filled with great bars, nice restaurants, and cozy cafes/brunch places. I do have to say the biggest downfall is the weather as it rains a lot and it is very windy. However, when the sun is out Rotterdam has great parks and terraces for a beer.
One of the best things in the university is the people you meet. There is people from all over the world which make the atmosphere even better. You will make friends from different backgrounds and countries.
The majority of the faculties are all located in the main campus which is beautiful; the university has a large library and two modern and new study buildings full of light. Some residences for first year students are also located there which makes it easy to meet people.
Overall, programs are well structured and planned and teachers have very impressive backgrounds. Classes and lectures are top quality. Although the system is quite hard and challenging, especially for certain programs.
From my experience I would highly recommend this university, I can say with certainty that it is a great place to study and make friends. I personally had the best three years of my life.
View moreI‘ve been studying the international bachelor of communication and media for a little over half a year now and I really like it so far. The course is by far one of the most international courses in the Netherlands, with classrooms filled with students from all over the world. The teachers also are from various different countries and some of them have even worked for big names in the media industry, such as CNN and they often give anecdotes to give you an idea of where you might end up one day. The course is very interesting and covers topics from sociology, communication psychology, but also scientific research methods. Even though Erasmus tried to implement opportunities for creative work, such as the design of campaigns, the course is very focused on research and science. You will need to do a lot of readings on the theory and most of us would love to do more creative assignments such as the production of media. Nevertheless, I still really enjoy the course and would recommend it to everyone who’s interested in working in the field of media. One big drawback about studying in Rotterdam is the housing situation. There is not a lot of affordable student housing, so I would really advise anyone who’s considering studying here to start looking very early in the year. I’ve even heard about people who stayed in hotels for months and instead of building a student housing building the university decided to build yet another study space and a new sports building. The campus of Erasmus is very big and has amazing modern facilities with various restaurants.
View moreHonestly, there’s much room for improvement regarding the course as a whole. There is too much self-study for them to be able to call themselves “the number 1”. My overall experience is not too great and it is not what I was expecting at all.
