I am doing my Bachelors in the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and it has been exactly like I expected it to be, in the introduction days I was able to have a good idea what my next years would be like. I had a very first good impression and I would definitely recommend it for a friend, it’s for sure a life-changing experience. One of the things that attracted me the most in the Uni is the opportunity to go on exchange for 5 months during the program, in many different countries all around Europe. The campus is very big and has a very modern aspect to it, while my erasmus university in Lisbon (Católica) has a very old and small campus. I have had courses like Marketing, Finance and Entrepreneurship, and they were very interesting and applied to the real market. They have lots of student associations and clubs, so it’s really easy to get to know new people. The university offers some kind of support but it is mostly down to your social skills whether you are able to find accommodation, and it’s also not so cheap. The night life is not so great, but there are always parties at the student houses. And further advice for future students would be to save some money before coming to Rotterdam, it is expensive!
IHS is a wonderful school with down to earth and specialised faculty in housing and urban development. The short courses are very organised and make sure your time is managed effectively. The style of education in Europe I found was very practice and less theoretic which I really appreciate.
I like friendly atmosphere and helping faculty and staff. My department of IHS is known to be the best place to study Urban Management systems. It is one of the pioneers and most prestigious institute where students from developing countries can learn and explore new strategies about urban designs and systems.
I like it because the university is very international. Moreover, the program I’m doing (IBA) is varied and interesting.
However, some courses I’m taking are too theoretical and are therefore less interesting than more practical ones
Ambitious university with a focus on innovative and fundamental research
Many enthusiastic professors with experience in the field (and lab). A pleasant and motivating environment to study in. Good research projects in the lab with many interesting opportunities and a good connection between theory and research/practical work. The personnel is motivating and passionate about their subjects.
For studying Economics/Business, Erasmus University is definitely one of the most prestigious options. Altough the level is not the same as the top English universities, the quality provided is still more than adequate. The reputation of the university allows you to choose more reputable degrees in the future too. The environment is international and friendly, the atmosphere is not so competitive as in other top universities
Many job opportunities presented at the University
Good university, maybe focuses a little bit too much on their international students compared to their students from The Netherlands. Overall good professors but they accept too many students for business administration so the professors can’t really handle it.
The campus is nice but pretty big. On campus you can find bars, supermarket, shops, etc. The content of the master program in Health Economics, policy and law is though. You are expected to read a lot of literature and the study load is really high.
The quality of the lecturers differs but overal is it okay (especially the level of English)
