After experiencing 4 years at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, I would not say I’m at the greatest university in the world. On a personal level I would 100% recommend my university and think it is an amazing place to get to know people from different cultures and in general I think most people would feel comfortable in my university. Moreover, I think the campus looks great and has very good facilities to study, do school exercises, or just hang with friends. Furthermore, I think Amsterdam is an amazing city and the campuses are close to the centre. The school is in a great environment and you can easily get to know Amsterdam. In general the level of classes is pretty good, the English level for international students in my opinion is also good, the only thing is that sometimes the teachers can be a bit lazy and the structure is sometimes a bit difficult to understand. Some teachers at times are not clear and due to the shortage of teachers, teachers are overwhelmed and do not have time to respond to all students. However, if you study, listen in class, pass your classes. Amsterdam is the place to be!

If you’re not entirely sure about your career choice and you want to explore and experiment, this is your hallway. At AMSIB you put to practice Business knowledge since day 1. First-year is an amazing experience since you have to start your own business with your classmates and you can already see and feel how things are working out. This experience will help a lot in discovering what you’re good at and what you enjoy doing the most within a business, with teachers guiding you throughout the whole experience you have an opportunity to develop further your skills and become an expert or learn new ones and become a generalist, no matter what you choose, many doors will open from this Hallway.

To AMSIB:
As International Business Student at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, I study at the Amsterdam School of International Business (AMSIB) Campus in Bijlmer. The location of the campus is unfortunately not close to the centre but easy to access by metro or train. The AMSIB is quite international as roughly 30-50% of your class will contain internationals. The IB programme covers all important fields of business such as Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, etc. What I like about AMSIB the most is the practical way of teaching business. Instead of having semesters of dry theories followed by huge exams, students have to apply knowledge in assignments. In Digital Marketing last year we had to create a Webshop and an Instagram Page for a brand. Furthermore, in the first year, we had to find a real company with real products and real customers, etc. After finishing the IB programme at the AMSIB, the students already have way more real-life business experience than university students who only got taught the theory without applying it. Another positive aspect is that at the end of every block students have to present their work in a presentation. This has helped me to develop my public speaking and presenting skills and made me more comfortable with the English language. Lastly, the AMSIB offers an exchange in the third year with partner universities all over the world. That’s a great opportunity to further develop. To conclude, AMSIB is a great opportunity to learn real-life business in an international environment.

To Amsterdam:
Amsterdam is an amazing city with a lot of international people from everywhere around the world. Not only is it the most beautiful capital I have ever been to it also has an amazing flair and culture. I can only recommend getting a bike as it is the best way to get around. Also do not move too close to the campus. Biljmer is not a fun area to live in. I can recommend de pijp, jordaan, zuid, or oost. Amsterdam is relatively small for a capital therefore living away from the campus is not a big deal if you have a bike. Also, the campus is well connected to public transport. Amsterdam is a dream city to live for young professionals and students and will be a part of your life you won’t ever forget not regret.

A diverse atmosphere in every aspect, from lectures to activities to your fellow classmates. You are constantly in an international environment that’s brought together into one learning experience. The courses provided give a good insight into what we as young business students can expect from the commercial world.

I’ve started studying International Business at HvA in 2019. The first year everything was super exciting, meeting new people was great as we all have many different cultural backgrounds which enriched my student experience even more. The courses in this program are well structured and there is a good organization among professors who are all professionals that know the right manners to approach the students and to teach the material in a comprehensible way. Moreover, the campuses have a variety of places to study, libraries with both silent areas and common rooms, as well as cafeterias in which you can have lunch or coffee with some of your peers. The environment is suitable for studying, as well as for hanging out with friends. The university also provides a wild variety of extracurricular activities to the students that are entertaining and beneficial.
With the Covid situation, things got a bit more complicated online, especially at the beginning of the pandemic. However, everyone got used to online teaching and studying quite quickly. The material was still covered, even though sometimes it will be difficult to keep on track.
I would surely recommend HvA and IB to everyone who has ambitions to study hard and likes to be among young, motivated people. The entire university team is always there to help their students, if they need to talk to anyone there is someone who can always help. This a great university to graduate from, as it certainly unlocks many future doors.

Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is a great opportunity to prepare people to work in the business field. The building of Business& Economy possesses advanced facilities such as a library with computers, study corners, cantine and modern classrooms. University offers a variety interesting courses and most teachers (for English modules) are from abroad. I would definitely recommend it to others. As one remark I would highlight that there are much more local students taking the programme than I expected. Therefore, in most of the classes local (Dutch) students are the majority.
