Just starting my journey at UP as a first-year Chemical Engineering student, with dreams of designing sustainable solutions, I felt like a freshman tossed into the deep end– a whirlwind of excitement. So far, the experience has been an eye-opening rollercoaster, filled with the exhilarating rush of discovery balanced by the late-night scramble to meet deadlines fueled by strong determination.

The course on “Chemical Reaction Engineering”/(choose any course you like) stands out as a real game-changer. Forget memorizing textbook equations – this class is all about understanding the heart of the matter, the very essence of how chemical reactions happen. The once-abstract concepts like reaction rates and conversion factors came alive through interactive simulations on the computers. The rhythmic whir of the projector fans became the soundtrack to our exploration, as we manipulated variables and watched virtual reactions unfold on screen. There are challenges, of course. The sheer volume of material, especially in subjects like thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, can feel as overwhelming as a clogged reactor at times. Looking ahead to graduation in 2025, I can confidently say that the BE in Chemical Engineering at UP is shaping me into a well-rounded engineer.
