View moreWits is a top ranked University in the African continent and so learning and teaching had to be adjusted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. True to its nature the institution adopted virtual classes and zero rated(data free) all teaching platforms in order to accommodate all learners socio-economic conditions.
View moreWits has been a wonderful experiences. I learned a lot from my lecturers and peers. Most of my lessons have been in the lecture room. Expanding my knowledge of the theories I’m most passionate about has been amazing.
At the end of the day, school is school so there are a lot of challenges from the work itself to discipline, balancing friends and relationships can be quite hard. But there are programmes at wits that assist with time management and things like that that makes life easier. Often making you feel like you’re not alone in this.
View moreI thoroughly enjoyed the modules that I chose to pursue for the 3 years that I studied at wits. Some were more challenging than others. I found it difficult to adjust to online learning but once I got the hang of it, I found it easier.
View moreIf you need any accommodation and concessions for a mental or physical ailment, Wits University is the place for you!
As an individual with mental and physical ailments, this university has kindly made concessions to me to make my academic journey easier and manageable. This university has very friendly staff, but due to the bucketload of responsibilities and ongoing activities, there can sometimes be a lag in attaining resources. Nevertheless, you will receive them.
View moreThis university is a great university that often puts the needs of its students as a priority. However, this university can be disorganized and delayed with releasing and printing the necessary learning materials that students need in order to engage with the course content.
In saying this, the university has a vast amount of facilities that highly accommodate the needs of students, such as libraries, a research centre, a mini grocery store, restaurants, ATM’s and a Takealot pickup point! Additionally, with regards to personal experience the university is highly understanding to health challenges that students face, and are not stringent when it comes to granting concessions.
View moreWits university is a great academic university. I didn’t like the adjustment from online learning to on campus learning. I enjoyed the events hosted this year and the full campus experience post covid.
View moreWits is an institution which applies immense pressure onto their students to achieve results at a fast paced rate which is a challenge especially to new students. Although it is a reputable and outstanding institution when it comes to academic content, it fails to consider the impact on the mental health of its students.
View moreWits one of the best research institutions in Africa. It is a fast paced learning environment, that is also very competitive. Moreover, the course content at Wits is very much applicable to real life experiences and in my three years at the university, I can say I have learnt a lot. However, Wits does not prioritise the needs of their students much. We have issues of limited accommodation, 24/7 transport facilities and so forth. The workload is also a lot more compared to other universities. I have also found that there is a lot of engagement in classrooms, as lecturers really encourage it. Some campus facilities also have made the university experience better.
View moreThe school is the best school in Johannesburg and 2nd top in South Africa so they offer the best education. Classes are widely open, and lectures are good but some are kind of racist. The student life… all I can say is only the fittest survive. If you are weak in this University you will end up dropping out because of the workload or the environment. Students live their best lives they wear expensive clothes so if you do not know what you want you will the pressure. One student at the beginning of the year killed her/himself because of his failure to adapt to the environment.
