View moreUniversity of KwaZulu-Natal is one of the greatest universities in South Africa and KwaZulu-Natal Province in my opinion,as I have Studied there doing my Social Science degree. My favorite module was criminology and Forensic Studies where i had a privilege to be taught by a great professor who gave us all the knowledge we needed. I did not only learn to survive professionally but also personally. How I face challenges in real life and co-existing with others. I would highly recommend studying in UKZN to others as it will not only builds you professionally, but also personally. With the qualification and skills I obtained I am equipped to face any challenges in my profession and personal life.
View moreI studied in University of KwaZulu-Natal (Howard College) doing Bachelor of Social Science degree. This was the best choice I have ever made, as I leant alot there professionally and personally. My majors were sociology and criminology. I choose these majors because I wanted to work with juveniles that have committed crime. I believe this was the best choice as it taught me not only about the juveniles in jail but also about the victims. My criminology lecturer was Mr S Shabane.
View moreUniversity of KwaZulu Natal has a storyline in the archives of the historical events of this country. I learnt that fascinating information from the university. There are various events that ensure that students do not fall into depressive states once upon a time because of the difficult workload. One thing I do not like is the fact that we are allocated to the residence of their choice and make it difficult to swap to a different one, it’s depressing staying in a place you are uncomfortable in, it sucks the life out of a stressed academically student. There are professors who really know the struggle of being a student and they show that either when marking, setting a paper or during class even. The campus life can be sad if you do not have friends, but never be shy talk to people you share classes with, you might find a friend and a study partner all at once.
View moreStudying at the University of KwaZulu-Natal was a defining chapter in my life. It wasn’t always easy ,there were challenges with admin and infrastructure from time to time ,but the experience shaped me in ways I’ll always be grateful for.
The university is a beautiful mix of cultures, ideas, and people. I met classmates from all walks of life, and that diversity opened my mind and heart. My lecturers were dedicated and deeply knowledgeable ,the kind who want you to succeed, not just academically, but as a human being.
What I truly valued was how UKZN doesn’t just teach you from textbooks. It teaches you to think critically, to speak up, and to understand the world you’re stepping into. It’s not just a place to study ,it’s a place to grow. Would I recommend it? Yes , especially to anyone who’s curious, passionate, and ready to embrace both the good and the difficult. It gave me more than a degree. It gave me resilience, purpose, and a voice.

View moreGoing to the institution with only a little information about music, I came out knowing how to read music and learnt the business side of music.
The teachers are extremely helpful. They teach and don’t hold back on information.
The courses are expensive and for people who don’t get funding and don’t have income, being in the institution can be very frustrating.
View moreAcademically, the university performs great; however, contacting student aid, financial services, or even lecturers becomes tedious and almost impossible. In most circumstances university emails do not exist or don’t respond, landlines are constantly engaged and staff feel no obligation to assist you. In the rare case, that you do get the assistance you need the service is poor. UKZn should look into providing training seminars for staff to better equip them with customer service skills.
View moreThe University of KwaZulu Natal famously known as UKZN was a place where I came to discover my true passion and explore a different path for my future. It is a place where students can build and shape their own future. My time at introduced the world of independency and personality growth. One had to find the maturity to build a timetable to fit both education and extramurals, there was no one to hold my hand, you are left on your own to complete your studies. If you do not have a sense of responsibility, you will lose your self within the Howard Campus and so will your future.
View moreIt is a good school, with a diverse background, there are a lot of programmes that one can join to feel at home, these range from religious programmes to social clubs like the LGBTQ community. There are also extra classes for people who need them which are facilitated by our peers, which is a good thing for some people who are shy around lecturers. What I disliked about this school is the people who work at administration, they don’t want to assist students, when you get there asking for help they take their own sweet time or tell you that they don’t want to assist you. Employing new people at administration would greatly improve the school.
